It depends on the mission. Usually when carrying a ruck on a ruck march Rangers will carry 65–85lbs for normal training missions, but for the 12 mile standard ruck test guys carry about 45lbs. Then when doing tactical reconnaissance the weight goes up, on average weighing 85–110 lbs.
What happens if I fail pre RASP?
You won't get kicked out of pre-RASP unless you quit. The point of it is to prepare soldiers for RASP better and the cadre are very professional. Sure they look for weak hearted people but they want to make good Rangers so they will train you well. There is a standard PT score to be able to class up to RASP 1.
Can you fail out of Ranger School?
You pass, you get assigned to one of the 3 RGR Battalions. From there you'll be sent to Ranger School. You pass, good to go. You fail/quit, you'll be reassigned to the needs of the Army.
