A bendable ribbon made from a mesh-like fabric is known as Deco mesh.Due to its flexibility and wide variety of colors, deco mesh is a popular ribbon that is essential in many crafts.Deco mesh can be used to make seasonal wreath.
Step 1: Start with pipe cleaning.
Wrap the pipe cleaners around the frame.Place several colored pipe cleaners around a circular metal wreath frame, spacing them 1.5 inches apart.Attach the pipe cleaners by twisting them onto the first or second wire from the center of the frame.Make sure to leave at least 2 inches of free pipe cleaner on each end so that they are securely held in place. If you want the pipe cleaners to blend in better, use a color that roughly matches the color of your ribbon.Depending on the size frame you use, the number of pipe cleaners will be different. As they may come in handy later on, set aside any extra pipe cleaners.
Step 2: Attach the frame with the ribbon.
Attach one end of the ribbon to the wreath using a pipe cleaner.Place the pinched end in the center of the pipe cleaner and twist it around to hold it in place. You should use a large roll of ribbon.10-inch (25- cm) ribbon is enough for a standard wreath. The mesh ribbon should be arranged so that it overlaps the pipe cleaner. The frame should have the pinched end of the ribbon on it.Over the pipe cleaner knot, the remaining ribbon should come out from the other side. The pipe cleaner should be hidden.
Step 3: The ribbon should be connected to the pipe cleaner.
Take 5 to 6 inches (13 to 15 cm) of ribbon and pinch it off with your fingers.Attach the pinched portion to the middle of the pipe cleaner and twist it around to hold it down. This should form a small bubble. If the bubble is not even, fluff it up by bending it with your fingers until it appears even.
Step 4: You need to connect the ribbon to the pipe cleaner.
To complete the wreath, follow the same pattern.Pinch off 5 to 6 inches (13 to 15 cm) of ribbon, attaching each length to the wreath by twisting the next sequential pipe cleaner around the pinched portion. The bubbles formed from the ribbon will partially hide the pipe cleaners. If you want to hide them completely, you can use wire cutters to cut them off.The same length of ribbon is used for each segment. The wreath will look sloppy if not.Attach the cut end of the wreath to the pipe cleaner. To prevent raw edges from being exposed, Curl the end of the ribbon into itself.
Step 5: A second layer can be added.
If you want the wreath to look bigger, attach a second layer of mesh ribbon to the frame.Place pipe cleaners in any empty spaces created by the first layer.Place the pipe cleaners in a straight line. The same method is used to fix the second layer. You can twist the new pipe cleaners around the pinched-off portions by pinching even lengths of the ribbon.
Step 6: Additional decorations should be attached.
Depending on the occasion, you can attach small ornaments, feathers, fabric flowers, small flags, or a variety of other crafting decorations to the wreath.Attach light decorations with clear-drying craft glue.Glued to the frame or ribbon are the decorations.Attach ornaments directly to the frame with a hot glue gun.The decorations should not be attached to the ribbon. You could put ornaments on a wreath.Glued to the bottom center is a large red bow.Black ornaments, plastic spiders, and fake webbing can be used to make a Halloween wreath.
Step 7: Attach your first color to it.
Wrap the end of the mesh ribbon around the frame with floral wire or a piece of metal wire to hold it in place. To hide the raw edges, fold the end of the ribbon. You can use wire that matches the metal frame or one of the ribbon colors. The deco mesh ribbon should be a good size for a standard size wreath.
Step 8: Wrap the ribbon around the frame.
The frame should be wrapped around the ribbon.Take the length around the starting point, over the top of the frame, and wrap it around again. The connecting points should be 5 to 8 cm apart. The points should be spread evenly. The frame leading to the connecting point should be double the length of the ribbon used to reach it.You should use 10 cm of ribbon to reach the connecting point if it is 2 inches (5 cm) apart. You can bunch up the ribbon to create volume.Use thin wire to tie the ribbon.Bring the ribbon to the starting point and connect it to your original wire at the end.To hide the raw edge, fold the end of the ribbon.
Step 9: The second color should be added.
To fill in the gaps left by the first ribbon, position the second color ribbon.By the time you finish, the metal frame should be hidden. The connecting points of the second ribbon will fall under the first ribbon. The second ribbon should be in the same sections as the first ribbon.Attach the second ribbon to the frame using the same thin wire that was used to attach the first ribbon.
Step 10: You should weave in other colors.
Any gaps on your wreath can be filled with additional deco mesh ribbon.Depending on the look you want, you can use fewer or more colors. You could use a color already used on your wreath to fill in the gaps.Attach additional layers of ribbon using the same method as before.
Step 11: Glue on the other things.
Attach ornaments directly to the frame with a hot glue gun.You can attach lighter decorations, like feathers or foam letters, to the frame with craft glue.
Step 12: Curl the ribbon.
Curl a length of ribbon so that it forms a tube. The tube should be 23 to 25 cm wide. The mesh should be cut to separate the curl from the rest. You will need 72 individual curls of ribbon to make a wreath. You can use 36 to 54 curls for a less full wreath. The project requires two rolls of deco mesh ribbon. If you want more colors, you can use more than this.
Step 13: There are bunches of meshes.
There are four curls of ribbon at the center.Fix them with a pipe cleaner that matches one of the colors.A less full wreath can be made with two or three curls of deco mesh. The mesh can be held together by twisting the pipe cleaner around it.To fix the ribbons on the wreath, leave enough pipe cleaner at the ends.
Step 14: Attach the first bunch to something.
Tie the center of the bunch to the frame's inner ring by twisting the pipe cleaner ends around the wire.To hold the mesh in place, twist the pipe cleaners.Once the bunch is attached, fluff up the curls. If you bend and position the curls, you will see that half of the face is inward and the other half is outward.A metal wreath frame is the best for this project.
Step 15: Attach the bunches.
Use the remaining pipe cleaner ends to twist the bunches around the frame. The bunches should be at least 1 inch apart from one another. There is a little wiggle room between the pipe cleaner and the metal frame. It will allow you to move the bunches around as you please. After the bunches are arranged you can make the twist tighter.Attach the bunches to the inner and outer wires of the frame.
Step 16: It's a good idea to fluff the curls.
Move the curls so that some face inward and others face outward. The result should be a full wreath with no empty space in the center and no wire frame visible.
