Step 1: The rules of fencing.
Federation International d'Escrime is the governing body for fencing.All equipment should meet the FIE standards.Make sure your equipment is legal.
Step 2: It is a good idea to wear a dress for safety.
The fencing rules are designed to increase the fencers safety.The tournament outfits must be made of fabric that resists a certain amount of force.The minimum safety standards for clothing are shown in the preceding table.
Step 3: You can equip yourself according to the weapon you fence.
Light thrusting weapon is foil.The guard protects the hand.pée is heavier than the foil.The hand guard protects the hand from being touched.It's a light cutting and thrusting weapon.The Sabre hand guard is specific because it connects the pommel with the base.It wants to protect the arm from being touched.
Step 4: Find the right clothes.
You can buy a uniform from most fencing clubs.To shop only from professional stores, be sure to buy equipment that is safe, comfortable, and functional.Although the traditional fencing uniform is white, the FIE allows other colors.
Step 5: Warm-ups or sports underwear should be worn.
During bouts, the inner layer of clothes provides additional comfort.
Step 6: You should put on long socks.

Step 12: Don't forget about the body cord.
To register the touches, it must be attached to the weapon and scoring box.It must go down the back.Attach the body cord to the lamé to create a circuit for the scoring box.
Step 13: Wear a lamé if you fence foil.
To cover the on-target area, wear it over the jacket.It helps to distinguish valid hits from invalid ones.A lamé is not necessary because the entire body is a target.The foil and saber lamés are not the same.A foil lamé has sleeves and ends across the waist.
Step 14: The mask has a bib and back strap.
The neck is protected by the bib.The mask is stable thanks to the back strap.There are different masks for foil, épée, and saber.A gauntlet is required for the weapon arm.It gives a good grip and protects the hand.
