The clear lines of the graphics make them an excellent format for logos and illustrations.Because they are created with equations, the vectors can be rescaled to any size without losing clarity. While most images are created from scratch, you can use image editing programs to "trace" images and convert them to vector. You can learn how to convert a JPG to a vector image in either Adobe Illustrator or the tandem combination of GIMP and Inkscape.
Step 1: It's possible to open Adobe Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator is the simplest way to convert a JPG to a vector image. You can get a trial of Illustrator fromadobe.com.You can find it in the Windows Start menu or your Mac's Applications folder.
Step 2: Add the image you want to convert to artboard.
You can drag the file to the workspace from the menu.
Step 3: The "Tracing" workspace is where you should switch.
You can do this by clicking the menu in the upper-right corner. There is a panel on the right side.Clicking on the menu will open this workspace.
Step 4: Click the image to see it in its entirety.
There are tracing options in the image trace panel.
Step 5: The image trace panel has aPreview box.
It will increase the time between making changes, but it will allow you to see what the different settings will do.The Preview option can be turned on or off.The image will trace after each change you make if you leave the preview on.You have to click the button if you don't see your changes.
Step 6: You can try one of the preset in the image trace panel.
There are preset buttons along the top of the panel. The Auto Color preset creates a stylized set of colors based on the original colors.Attempts to recreate all of the original colors. The low color creates a simplified version of the original colors.Grayscale replaces colors with gray.Reducing colors to black and white is called Black and White.
Step 7: The color complexity can be adjusted by using the color sliders.
If you reduce the number of colors used you will get a better result. The flatter the image will be, this will lead to it.
Step 8: The "advanced" section of the image trace panel can be expanded.
Clicking the small triangle next to "Advanced" will allow you to do this. This will show more detailed controls for the trace.
Step 9: To adjust how close the path follows the pixels, use the "paths" sliders.
The paths are tighter when the slider is moved to the left or right.Smoother edges will result from a looser path.
Step 10: To change how rounded your corners will be, use the "Corners" sliders.
The corners will be rounder if the slider is moved to the left.
Step 11: The "Noise" slider can be used to reduce bleeds.
The trace is used to determine what groupings of pixels are considered "noise" and not included. It can help smooth out rough spots.
Step 12: To see your changes, click trace.
It is at the bottom of the panel. The button will be grayed out if you enabled the preview option earlier.
Step 13: Click on the button to expand.
The top of Illustrator has a toolbar in it.This will convert your tracing object into a real path, and replace it with a JPG image.
Step 14: The image can be exported as a sds file.
You can export the finished image once you're done tracing.Select "Save As" when you click the or menu.A copy should be saved as an.ai file.Click the option if you want to type a new name for the file. This will allow you to re-open the file in Illustrator and make more edits.Return to the menu and select the format you want to save. For the web and for printing. If you want to save the file as a PDF, do not do so.You can save your file by clicking.
Step 15: You need to download and install Inkscape.
These are programs that you can use to create images.Inkscape is a graphics editor similar to Illustrator. All operating systems have both of them. There is a website where you can download GIMP.Leave the settings at their default when you run the installer for your operating system. You can find it at https://www.inkscape.org.Leave the settings at their default when you run the installer for your operating system. This method can only be used for simple images with basic colors. It will take a lot of work smoothing rough edges and getting good colors to convert high-detail images.
Step 16: You can use GIMP to open your photo.
You can do this by right-clicking the image.Click > if you want to insert the file.
Step 17: You can use the tool to select the part of the image that you want to convert to a file format.

Step 23: Go to the Path menu and select the trace bitmap.
This opens the window.
Step 24: Click Update if you don't want to use preset methods.

Step 25: When you're happy with the result, click OK.
The original image is traced and replaced with a vector version.
Step 26: Use the tool to make fine adjustments.
The icon has three points on it's top- left corner. You can use this tool to adjust the size and shade of the image.A bunch of small boxes appear when you click a part of your images. You can change the shapes by dragging these boxes.
Step 27: The "Break Path" tool can be used to separate nodes that are not connected.
The third button to the left is above the top left corner of the workspace. Some parts of the image may have been connected during the trace. The Break Paths tool allows you to separate the parts.
Step 28: When you're done, save your image as a file.
If you're satisfied with your image, you can save it as a vector format.Select from the menu. You can use the "Save as type" menu to select a format. For websites and for print are common formats. To make easy edits, save a copy as an Inkscape svg.
