It is a favorite snack in Hawaii.These are popular at malls and beaches and can be eaten between work breaks.
Step 1: Put the rice in a container.
Rinsing or washing the rice is a traditional way to prepare Japanese rice.
Step 2: The rice should be in the cooker.
Depending on how much rice is going to be divided amongst each one, a 3 US-quart rice cooker will be enough for 10 to 12 spam musubi.Put half an inch of rice on the other side.
Step 3: Cut the seaweed in half.
The rough side is to you, so lay them shiny side down.For now, set these aside.
Step 4: It's time to cut the junk mail.
There is an open can that can be used to remove unwanted mail.Cut it into slices.Don't use a dull knife.
Step 5: The food should be cooked.
You can try frying, baking, or boiling the food.You don't need to cook it long because it's pre-cooked.Cook in the microwave for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes.Cook until it turns brown or crisp.For 5 minutes, boil the spam in 1/2 part soy sauce, 1 part water and sugar.
Step 6: Amarinade is a sauce.
Take equal parts of soy sauce and brown sugar and mix them together in a small bowl.
Step 7: There is a piece of seaweed on the cutting board.
Put the musubi mold in the middle of the seaweed.The seaweed will be too "gooey" if it is wet too much.
Step 8: The mold has rice in it.
Depending on the size of the mold, add 1/3 inch to 1/2 inch of rice.Flatten the rice.There is furikake on the rice.It's optional.
Step 9: There is a piece of food on top of the rice.
If you fill the mold with more rice, you will be able to flatten it.Wrap the piece with seaweed and sprinkle with furikake.
Step 10: Place the rice on top of the mail.
To flatten everything down, use the back of a spoon or a musubi mold.
Step 11: The musubi has a mold on it.
Holding down the top flat piece, slowly slide the mold around the musubi.Take the flat piece off after a while to make sure it's not sticky.
Step 12: Take both sides of the seaweed.
This action is similar to putting a baby in a blanket.To seal it, apply some water on the edge.
Step 13: Warm or hot, serve the musubis.
The rice needs to be hot.Before making rice, microwave it for a couple of minutes.
