It is absolutely delicious to drink lemon tea. This herbal beverage is perfect served hot or cold, since it's made from lemongrass stalks rather than tea leaves. It's so easy to make yourself!
Step 1: 2 cups of leaves or stalks can be cut.
To bruise the stalks, hit them with the flat side of your knife blade. The oil will be released from the stalks. The lemongrass should be given a rough chop. The pieces should be about 2.5 cm long. You can use the leaves from home to make tea. There is no need to bruise the leaves. You don't want to damage your countertop or dull your knife blade if you chop the lemongrass on a cutting board. If you buy it at a grocery store, the number of stalks you'll need will vary.
Step 2: Bring the water to the boil.
If you put your water into a saucepan or similar pot, the water won't boil over.Place it on the stove for a few minutes and it will boil.As the water gets hotter, be careful. The pot will get very hot.
Step 3: Continue boiling the water for 5 minutes after adding the Lemongrass.
When the water reaches a rapid, rolling boil, it is time to add the lemongrass. The chopped lemongrass can be dropped directly into the boiling water. If you have to, steep it in the boiling water for about 5 minutes, then give it a stir with a long-handled spoon to make sure it's completely submerged. If you stir the water, it shouldn't stop bubbling. When you drop it in the water, hold it close to the surface. It will be less likely that it will splash back onto you.
Step 4: Remove the stalks by pouring the mixture through a strainer.
It is best to strain the tea after it has finished steeping because you don't want to accidentally drink the lemongrass fibers. The tea can be put into a pitcher or another container. The fibers from the stalks might be an unpleasant addition to a cup of tea.You can strain the tea directly into the teacup.
Step 5: If you like warm tea, serve it immediately.
A warm cup of tea is good in the morning or on a cool day.You can enjoy the tea once it is cool enough to drink. If you like honey or sugar, add it to your cup of tea.
Step 6: Make iced tea by chilling the mixture.
If you prefer iced tea, place your pitcher in the fridge for an hour or so.A refreshing herbal tea is perfect on a hot day or served with your meals. If you want to make sweetened iced tea, you have to add sugar to it.The tea should be served over ice.
Step 7: If you like a creamy tea, add a splash of milk to it.
If you like milk in your tea, you will like it in the tea as well.It adds a creamy mouthfeel to this herbal treat and will cool off a cup of hot tea.It is best to start with a small amount and work from there. You can use either heavy cream or half-and-half.
Step 8: For sweeter tea, add 7 grams of honey.
The honey is rich and sweet. If you want your favorite honey to be completely dissolved, you have to measure it out.Adding more honey will make your tea sweeter.
Step 9: It's a good idea to steep tea with ginger.
If you want to use fresh ginger root in your tea, slice off a piece that is about 1 in ( 2.5 cm) long.Drop it into the water while you are boiling it.If you have a sore throat or a head cold, you should drink a tea made from ginger and lemongrass.
Step 10: The lime will enhance the flavor.
It is a little more mellow than using lemons or limes. If you want to make your tea taste better, squeeze a wedge of lime over it.If you want, you can add more lime juice. The lime will provide more of a contrast to the lemongrass than a lemon.
