What if the systems on my Jazzy don't work when the on/off key is pressed?
The battery wiring diagram is located on the power base.
Make sure the main circuit breaker doesn't push the reset button.
Do you know if the batteries have ever been replaced?It is possible that batteries over a year old are malfunctioning.
Determine how frequently you charge the batteries and how often you use the power chair.
The batteries in your power chair should be charged every day for 8-14 hours.
Determine when the batteries were last charged.If the power chair isn't in use, the batteries should be charged once a week.
How long do you let the batteries charge?It takes 8-14 hours to fully charge a depleted set of batteries; continual undercharging reduces the life of the batteries.
The ammeter can be used to determine if the batteries are getting a charge.The batteries are not getting charged if the ammeter does not go up when the battery is plugged in.Check the electrical outlet to make sure it's good.
Determine if a wall switch controls the electrical outlet.The batteries will not fully charge if a wall switch is turned off.
Is the extension cord connected to the electrical outlet?The use of an extension cord is not allowed by Pride.The length and condition of the extension cord can have an adverse affect on the battery charger, so it's a good idea to plug it into a properly-wired electrical outlet.
Determine how far the battery condition meter should go before you charge the batteries.The life of the batteries will be reduced if you allow the battery condition meter to fall into the red area.
Determine when the batteries were last charged.The motors spin slower when the battery charge is low.
Determine the temperature of the power chair when the problem occurred.When the internal temperature of the Jazzy electrical system gets too high, the amount of power sent to the motors will be reduced.The power chair will slow down when this happens.If the power chair is allowed to cool down, it will resume normal operation.
Determine if the joystick is at a slight angle or straight.The chair will go over a long distance if there is a small amount of interference right or left.
Determine if the levers are in the drive position.The Jazzy Select 14 will not operate if only one lever is in the drive position.
If the power chair has pneumatic tires, make sure the tires are inflated to the correct pressure.
Pneumatic tires should be inflated to 35 psi.The power chair will pull to the side that is under inflated if one tire is inflated more than the other.
Determine if the levers are in the freewheel position.The electronics will work if the power chair is in freewheel mode.
Determine if the controller has a fault code.The Jazzy Select has a controller.If a system fault is detected, the controllers will flash a code on the battery condition meter LEDs.
