Keep glasses out of the way.

If you keep pushing your glasses back up on your face, it may be time to make some changes. There are many quick fixes you can make at home to keep your glasses in place. For a more permanent solution, you may need to adjust your frames.Your glasses will stay in place if you fix your frames. Step 1: Natural oil can build up on your face. Your glasses can slip down your nose if you have oily skin.If you want to get the most effective results, wash your face once or twice per day. Before putting your glasses on, Rub the cleanser into your skin and rinse it off completely.Keeping cleaning wipes with you will help remove excess oil from your body.It is possible to make your skin dry out by frequently using a facial cleanser. Step 2: Wrap hair ties around the arms. 2 small hair ties that match the color of your frames will blend in and not stick out.Take a third of the way down the arm and twist it to make a loop.Put the arm through the loop again.Continue looping the hair tie around the arm until it is tight and then do the same on the other arm.The hair ties need to lie flat against the arms to be comfortable.Try different lengths of hair ties to see what works best on your arms. Step 3: It's a good idea to put wax on the bridge of your glasses. There is a lip balm-like tube in which glasses wax is kept.Rub a small amount on the bridge of your frames after removing the cap from the wax.If they still slip, put your glasses on.Apply more wax to your glasses if they still move. You can buy glasses wax from a pharmacy. Step 4: Make the arms tighter by putting heat-shrink tubing on them. Once it is heated, heat-shrink tubing will conform to the shape of the object. The part that wraps around your ear should be covered by tubing. If you want to shrink the tubing, hold a heat gun 4–5 inches away from it and turn it on low for 30 seconds. You can buy heat-shrink tubing at your hardware store. If you want your tubing to stand out, look for it to match the color of your frames. You can use a blow dryer on the highest heat setting if you don't have a heat gun.Don't hold the heat gun near your glasses for too long since you could damage or melt them. Some frames have rubber strips on their arms. Step 5: If your glasses slide down your nose, you need to replace the nose pads. To loosen the screw on the nose, use a small screwdriver from the glasses repair kit.Pull out the old nose pad and put a new one on your frames. Before the second nose pad is replaced, secure the screw back in place.Replacement nose pads can be purchased from stores that sell glasses. The nose pads on your glasses may need to be replaced. Step 6: If the nose pads are adjusted on your frames, make them narrower. If you want to make your own adjustments, some frames have nose pads on a thin metal piece.Use your index finger and thumb to squeeze the outer edges of the nose pads.If the nose pads don't move the same distance, the glasses may be crooked on your face.Push the nose pads out again if you make them too narrow. If you bend the nose pads too much, you could break them off of your frames. If you don't feel comfortable doing it on your own, you can take your frames to an eye doctor. Step 7: Place your glasses against your head by adjusting the temple angles. The arms fit against the side of your head to give you the best grip.If you have metal frames, hold the base of the arm with your nondominant hand and grab the end with a pair of needlenose pliers. To tighten the arms, bend the ends toward the frame. If you have plastic frames, heat them with a hair dryer on high for 1-2 minutes before bending them.To make the adjustments for you, you can take your frames to your eye doctor. Step 8: Ear hooks should be put on the arms. Ear hooks are small rubber pieces that slide onto the arms to keep your glasses out of your ears.Put an ear hook on the end of the arm so that it is tight against your ear when you wear the glasses. If you put the ear hook on the other arm, your glasses will stay straight.Ear hooks can be purchased from a store that sells glasses. Step 9: Measure your face. Ask your doctor or glasses store to measure your face. The length of the nose bridge and arms for your glasses will be found by the employee at the eye doctor's office. The measurement of your eyeglasses may look like 55-18-140, with 55mm lens width, 18mm bridge width and 140mm arm length. If you already have a pair of glasses that fit well, look for 3 numbers on one of the arms to find their size.A measurement tool that uses your phone camera to estimate the perfect fit for you can be found in some apps for buying glasses. Step 10: They are less likely to slip if they have grip strips on the ends of the arms. There are rubber pieces wrapped around the frames that make them less likely to slip.Look for frames in your size that have rubber pieces on the end, so you can see how they feel on your head.If you wear your frames too long, you may start to feel uncomfortable. If you cannot find a pair that already has strips on them, you can buy grip strips. Step 11: You can tighten the nose pads with them. You can make adjustments on the go with nose pads attached to metal pieces. At your local glasses store or online, look for frames that have nose pads.If the nose pads are too loose, squeeze them closer together so they hold on to your face better. If you want to keep your glasses up, you may be able to stick on the nose pads that come with the frames.
