Kefir Grains Fresh Organic 20 G is available at walmart.com
My recommended source for all things Kombucha is now also selling fresh, live organic kefir grains.Milk kefir and water kefir grains can be found here.
I used to only find reliable sources of dried kefir grains. The problem with dried grains is that it takes a lot more time and work to get them back to normal. When dried grains get back to making kefir, they don't grow like they should. They are lacking in vitality because something is not quite right.Sometimes you need to use dried kefir grains. If you have to, I would highly recommend going for the live grains.
If you're new to kefir or want to know more about it, keep reading.I have given a description of both of them.
Milk kefir is a delicious and healthy drink that is similar to yogurt but has more health benefits. It's a good way to colonize your gut.Our health begins with our bicyle.A healthy bicyle allows us to get the vitamins and minerals in our food. The beneficialbacteria in our gut help us to get some vitamins and minerals into our body through their normal processes.
It's even easier to make kefir than yogurt. It is one of the easiest foods to make.If you want to keep the milk at the right temperature, you don't need to preheat it or use a thermometer. You just add milk and kefir grains and leave it at room temperature for 24 hours.
Water kefir, also known as tibicos, ginger bug and African bees, is a vegan drink.Water kefir is a refreshing beverage made from water, sugar, water kefir grains and natural flavors. You can be really creative with the flavoring.Water kefir can ferment in less than 48 hours.Water kefir can be used to break soda addictions.Kids love water kefir.
I make my own Kefir on a regular basis.I can't buy raw milk, which is the only problem I have with making it.America does not allow the sale of raw milk.
In many places in America, raw milk is banned. It is ridiculous. The pasteurized, processed, homogenized stuff is bad for you.The kind of milk that is allowed to have a lot of puss in it is still sold as safe to drink.Do the same laws apply if you switched to goat's milk?It may not be a strict industry.I have heard that goat's milk makes beautiful kefir.
I don't eat dairy products anymore, but I can get raw milk here.My partner still enjoys kefir.I want to see if I can make a decent coconut milk kefir.People make coconut milk kefir. It sounds delicious!
Co-ops and organic farms will usually sell it to you for very little. It is most likely that you will bring your own contianer. There are large glass jugs that look like old timey jugs. You should bring a cooler with you because raw milk spoils quickly if it isn't cooled.
Thanks for adding that! There are glass jugs in the shops. How do you clean them out? It's a bit of work to get out all the oil from the milk fat, and the raw whole milk has lots more of that really good-for-you fat than store bought milk.
I use a 2% Omega 3 and it works well.It is better than regular Pasteurized Milk because the natural enzymes and nutrition have been destroyed. The nutients have been taken out by the pasteurization.
Thank you for your comment.I have never heard of that.I use chia seeds for my Omega 3s, and I also eat fish occasionally, because B12 is another thing I need to make sure I get enough of in my body.I listen to my body.
I can't have a lot of sugar in water kefir because it's made with sugar water, so how much does milk kefir have?
Milk kefir has less milk sugar than normal milk because the kefir grains feed on it.If milk doesn't bother you, that's a good option for you.
The water kefir grains are made with sugar. They will be taking the sugar out of the water kefir. The amount of sugar in it depends on the level of ferment you bring it to.The longer it ferments, the less sugar will be in it.The temperature is a factor in how quickly it ferments. The Triple Scale Hydrometer can be used to measure the sugar content of either water kefir or kombucha.
You can't buy kefir grains at those stores. You can buy Kefir Grains online. They are fresh and good quality and will ship to Texas.
Thanks for reporting it.I checked all the links and they are working for me.Maybe it was a short-term problem?
Will dry kefir grains still be alive when I get to Africa, where I want to keep making my own kefir?
