It's a big decision to decide who you want to spend the rest of your life with.It is more difficult to know if you found the one.Are you able to tell if your partner is Mr.Right or Mr.Are you right now?If you look at his level of respect, if you share common beliefs, and if he makes you happy or not, you can figure out whether he's husband material.
Step 1: He treats you differently when you disagree.
Everyone has moments they don't like.During an argument, they reveal themselves. When you disagree, watch how your partner treats you.How he behaves shows how much he respects you.He shouldn't use name calling, physical or aggressive behavior, or anything that makes you feel uncomfortable.Even during a heated argument, he should treat you with respect. It may be time to cut ties if not.
Step 2: Pay attention to the way he handles others.
The way a person treats someone who helps them says a lot about their character. This is likely true for most of the time.He interacts with other people. If he is rude, mean, or disrespectful to others more often than not, it is a bad sign. You can get an idea of a person's level of respect towards you by how they engage with people you are close to.Even if he doesn't get along with them, the man you are considering spending the rest of your life with should treat them with kindness and respect. He should treat them this way because he cares about you.If he can't do that, you might consider ending things.
Step 3: If he tries to change you, ask.
No one is perfect. He should accept his flaws until death do you part.He should be aware of the good and bad aspects of your personality and accept them happily.A person with flaws shouldn't make you feel guilty. You should be honest with them and not try to hide who you are.If they can't accept the real you, it's probably time to find a new partner.
Step 4: Do you feel safe with him?
It isn't your husband's job to protect you from the world. To make sure you don't feel threatened by him is his responsibility. You should be comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings. If you don't feel safe talking about upsetting topics with him, it's time to move on.He can be upset or mad if he doesn't agree, but it's never an excuse to behave in a way that makes you fearful.Do you enjoy spending time with him or do you just form an attachment? If you find that you feel afraid to speak up about something, that is a red flag.
Step 5: Do you know if he is willing to work hard in the relationship?
It takes a lot of work to be a happy couple.A successful marriage isn't the result of one person doing everything but the other showing up.Take a look at your past and see if he has the same level of commitment to make the relationship work as you have.He probably doesn't value your partnership as much as you do.
Step 6: Find out if he wants to be married.
If your partner is not interested in marriage, how you feel is neither here nor there. If you start to feel like he could be the one, you should ask about his beliefs in marriage.Ask him how he feels about marriage. He talks about other people's marriages as well, so you could say, "Do you ever see yourself getting married?"He can reveal a lot about how he really feels when he talks about marriage.Do not get attached to the idea that he will change his mind.Over time, beliefs can change, but they have to be his own. What you see is what you get.
Step 7: If you share the same values, look at them.
The belief that opposites attract is true.If you don't share common values, there's a chance of trouble down the road.A few years into the marriage, what seems cute could result in constant fighting. When it comes to faith and other important values, couples don't always have to share the same beliefs. They should be respectful of each other's feelings. If your beliefs are not compatible with one another, your relationship won't work.If your partner lies repetitively, this will be a major point of contention. You could be pulled apart due to your differences if you value spending time with family while your partner puts priority on work relationships.
Step 8: Do you have the same goals?
A good marriage doesn't have to be one where each spouse wants the same things. If they are similar, it will help. You can cause trouble in the future if you take the plunge with someone who has a completely different outlook on life.If he is comfortable with renting for the foreseeable future, you may have trouble buying a home.If you know you don't want kids and he already has names picked out, there's probably a lot of pain ahead.
Step 9: If you are happy with or without him, what would you say?
It is not realistic to think that every day will be filled with butterflies and hearts. If you feel like you're a better person with him in your life than you are without him, you probably found the love of yourlife.True partners bring out the best in each other and make them feel better about themselves. If you are unsure about the relationship, take a break. If you like your life better when he is around, this will help you.It may be time to move on if not.
Step 10: He might be supportive of you.
Does your life mate try to bring you down?Does he believe in you or does he think what you do is pointless?Building up the other is part of being a good spouse. If he is only interested in supporting you, you may not have found the man of your dreams. If he is willing to take a step back to allow you to pursue your goals, you might have a keeper.
Step 11: If you have fun, look at it.
The ones that last are those that enjoy themselves around each other. When you complement each other's personality, you can have fun together. When you work off of each other successfully, your relationship is much more enjoyable. When you are unhappy more often than happy, that is a sign to move on.Relationships aren't about having fun all of the time, but there has to be some enjoyment in there to make them last.
Step 12: If he makes you feel good about yourself, evaluate.
He does need to make you feel good, but he isn't required to give it all the time.Don't criticize your weight, appearance, or IQ.You should feel appreciated by him.If he doesn't make you feel appreciated, consider looking somewhere else.He should feel lucky to have you in his life.He doesn't have to constantly praise you, but he should let you know how much he values you.
