After the United States acquired Guam from Spain in 1899, aguajente was banned by the American government.A prison sentence and a fine would be given to anyone caught making it.For the next 40 years, tub was restricted to non-alcoholic and mildly alcoholic versions.Before World War II, taxes were levied on coconut palms, further damaging the industry.The production of tub in the islands is in decline.There are no comments at this time.
