Tie dying turns a white shirt into a bright spiral or pop of color.To experiment with the process, choose white cotton fabric and use bottles of dye.It's similar to dying short-sleeve shirts, but it requires a lot of care to be taken during the wrapping process if you want to create a particular pattern.
Step 1: You can buy bottles of dye at your local fabric store.
You can apply bottles more precisely to sections of the shirt than you can with mixed dye.If you want a rainbow tie-dye shirt, look for a kit that contains all the shirts you need.
Step 2: If you need to use soda ash to fix the dye or if it can be used without soaking, read the instructions.
Purchase soda ash or washing soda that is made of sodium carbonate.Purchase rubber bands.

The table will be protected, but the t-shirt can be wrapped more easily.You can transport your shirt to the laundry room with a plastic bag and bucket nearby.
Step 4: While the shirt is dry, wrap it.

The long sleeves should be moved next to the body of the shirt.If you want them to form a pattern with the rest of the shirt, try to keep them close.If you want a different pattern on the sleeves, keep them separate.
Step 6: Find the imaginary line in the center of the shirt.
The shirt is in the center of the chest.
Step 7: The shirt should be twisted.
The spiral will start with the shirt.You can continue twisting the shirt by using your other hand.
Step 8: Before you finish your spiral, feather the shirt.
Extra lines, or folds, in the shirt between each turn is what this means.
Step 9: As you make your spiral, make sure that the long sleeves travel along the length of your body.
Step 10: When you have made a spiral that is in the shape of a circle, stop.
Open rubber bands with your hands.When they are tight on opposite ends, slide them under and over the circle.Pick the shirt bundle up, since it can change the shape you have created.The rubber bands should be slid across the cloth.
Step 11: Attach the circle with rubber bands.
Do diagonal lines.It will look like it has several pizza slices.
Step 12: The shirt should be soaked in a mixture of soda ash and water.

Don't create excess dye on your drop cloth if you apply just enough dye to soak the fabric in a pie slice-section.Less dye is used when in doubt.
Step 15: To blend, follow the colors of the rainbow.
You can use alternate colors to make a spiral.Continue until you have dyed all the pie sections.
Step 16: The shirt should be flipped over on its backside.
The process of applying bottle dye to each section is repeated.Match the right color from the front to the back.
Step 17: The bag has a shirt inside it.
Allow it to sit according to the instructions.
Step 18: The shirt should be soaked in cold water.
The rubber bands should be removed.
Step 19: The shirt needs to be washed in the washing machine.
Don't use soap.
