M1 is knitted.

You can see M1 in the pattern if you're knitting a sleeve. One stitch is what M1 means. You can create a new loop by knitting into the bar of yarn between 2 stitches instead of using the left needle. The back loop is used to make a new stitch.Make the new stitches lean to the right if your pattern specifies M1R.If the pattern doesn't specify, use the standard M1 that leans to the left.

Step 1: You have to locate where to make the stitch.

If you follow your knitting pattern, you can determine where to put the new stitch. The horizontal bar of yarn is between the two needles. The stitch will be inserted in this space.

Step 2: Under the bar of yarn, put the left hand needle.

Put the tip of the left needle under the bar once you've found where to make 1 (M1).Pull the yarn loop up with the left needle. If you're having trouble lifting the yarn loop onto the left needle, try using your fingers.

Step 3: The back loop is used to knit.

The back of the new loop on the left needle is where the right needle should be inserted. The stitches on the left needle should be pointed towards by the right needle. The criss-cross V shapes will be created by knitting through the back loop.It will prevent gaps between the stitches.

Step 4: Continue to follow the pattern

When you've made 1 stitch, follow the pattern and knit or purl as usual. You may need to M1 every time.

Step 5: Determine where to place the needle.

You can find where to insert the new stitch by reading your knitting pattern. The horizontal bar of yarn is between the stitches on your left and right needles. This is where the stitches will be inserted.

Step 6: The bar of yarn has a left hand needle beneath it.

You'll need to put the tip of the left needle under the bar if you want to insert the needle for M1 (M1L).The yarn loop can be lifted onto the left needle. You can slide the loop onto the left needle if you have a hard time using the needle.

Step 7: The front of the loop is where you can knit.

The right needle should be inserted through the front of the loop. The new stitch will go to the right.Even though you're knitting the same stitch, it will feel a little tighter because of the twist.A hole or gap between the stitches can be prevented with a slight twist.

Step 8: Continue with the pattern if you move the new stitch onto the right needle.

When the pattern calls for it, knit according to the directions on your pattern and M1R.
