"Margarita Salt, 8 Oz Tub - Walmart.com" is a product of walmart.

Here on The Cookful, we have read a lot of margarita recipes. Not sure how to rim a glass, most of them mention that you should salt the rim.You can learn here. Most people say that you should use kosher salt.We had to ask, "Why kosher salt?" It seems to be the accepted norm but is it the only way to go?

You can buy salt for rimming glasses. We don't know if it's worth the extra money. You can check it out here.We used iodized table salt, kosher salt and flaky sea salt for our taste test.

We noticed that you end up with a bit of salt on there. It is clumpy. It does not look very nice.We tasted and poured from our best recipe. It was very salty.Overpowering is really what it is.We knew that table salt wouldn't be our favorite.

It looks better.Less clumps. There aren't as many grains of salt on there.Excellent improvement. The taste test? Not as salty. It's much better.

Maldon sea salt was in my house.I always do.Whenever my mother-in-law comes to visit we get some straight from the source. The best.

There were less salt crystals that stuck. There is a huge contrast between this and the table salt. What about the taste? It is divine.Really.The sea salt is not as salty as the other two.It is very subtle. You really want to counter the sweet and sour in a classic margarita with a tiny bit.

It is a lot more expensive. It was the size of the 8.5oz.There is a box on Amazon. There is a 3lb.There is a box of kosher.A box of Maldon would cost around $36.That is a big difference.

We're pretty sure that sea salt isn't the way to go since a lot of salt is wasted when rimming a glass. It tasted better than the kosher, but not enough to justify the cost.It might be worth it if you were having a fancy party.Stick with the kosher for your regular day-to-day margs.

We agree with the recipes for kosher salt.We know why.We like to know why.

I love Maldon Flake Sea Salt.I put it on my food.I have not used table salt in a while.I didn't think to use it to rim a glass.Love the idea. It's also cool to rim a glass with colored sugar.

I get my Maldon at HEB for $5.28 which is a lot cheaper than other stores and websites. There is a product calledmaldon-sea-salt-flakes.

Thanks for doing the taste test.I find it very helpful.I'm going to try it out with my drink.I bought some at the market for $6.
