Everyone likes the frothy foam on top of their coffee drink. You can use a milk frother to get barista-level foam if you want to warm up on a cold day.You can recreate your favorite fancy coffee beverages at home by choosing, preparing, frothing, and serving your milk.
Step 1: Fresh milk is a good buy.
The store has an expiration date on milk. You can choose milk that is closer to its expiration date.Older milk has a compound that makes it harder for frothed milk to hold its bubbles.
Step 2: If you are new to frothing you should use skim milk.
As you learn how to froth milk, swap in skim for higher-fat milks. The foam in skim milk can be better held at room temperature. If you want to use a different type of milk, you can spoon skim foam on top.
Step 3: Milk can be put into the frother.
The milk only fills 1/3 of the volume if you fill your container with it.When you froth it, there will be plenty of room for your milk to grow.
Step 4: You should chill the milk.
To make the milk cold, place the carafe in the refrigerator. This is important if you buy UHT milk. You can test the temperature on your wrist by dipping a spoon into the milk. When the milk is cold, remove it from the fridge. It is possible to froth steamed milk, but it will make less froth. If you want your foam to be hot, froth the milk first. You don't need a specific temperature for your milk to be chilled.
Step 5: The frother's lid must be replaced.
To make sure there is no gap between the lid and the carafe, check the edge. When you froth, placing the top on wrong can cause a mess.
Step 6: Give the handle 30 seconds to fall down.
As you pump the milk with the plunger, hold the carafe firmly with your nondominant hand.As the foam builds, it may require more strength to pump the milk.
Step 7: Check the foam consistency.
Look at the milk if you lift the top off the carafe. Some people prefer their milk to be foamy, while others prefer a lot of foam. For up to 30 seconds, plunge your milk if it hasn't reached your desired consistency.Don't plunge your milk for more than a minute.Air bubbles can break down when you froth your milk.
Step 8: The carafe needs to be removed.
The whisk is on the edge of the carafe. The froth will be thrown into the container.
Step 9: The carafe is twirled in a circular motion.
If you want to remove air bubbles, tap the bottom of the carafe on the counter. It's okay that your foam settles a little bit.Your milk is ready to serve.
Step 10: With the head in the milk, hold your wand vertically.
If the head of the wand is submerged in the milk, turn it on.Turn the wand on high if it has multiple speeds.
Step 11: The wand should be swirled in a circular motion.
As you begin whipping the foam, keep the wand's head near the bottom of the carafe. You will see bubbles.
Step 12: For another 30 seconds, move to an up-and-down motion.
The head of the wand should be under the milk at all times. The last 30 seconds will make the milk foamier. The wand should be switched off.
Step 13: The wand on the side of the container can be used to remove foam.
Avoid swirling or tapping your carafe because the foam created by an electric wand is very fine.Your milk is ready to serve.
Step 14: You can microwave your frothed milk for a short time.
Milk can be poured into a microwave-safe container if your carafe is made of metal. If your carafe is microwave safe, you can pop it in the microwave. The milk should be checked every 30 seconds. The flavor of your milk can be affected by over heating.Milk should not be heated to the point of boiling.
Step 15: The milk can be removed from the microwave.
To remove your hot container from the microwave, wear an oven mitt or tea towel. If you handle the milk in a way that makes it very hot, it will prevent accidental burns.
Step 16: Use a spoon to lift foam.
If you want hot milk in your coffee, pour it into your cup slowly so the foam doesn't collapse. If you treat your milk gently, it will not lose air.
