In 2001, Mrs. Doubtfire 2 began being developed by Bonnie Hunt, even though Anne Fine had not written a follow-up novel.Robin Williams was going to be an old nanny.After problems with the script, re-writing began in 2006 and the sequel was scrapped later that year.The sequel to the film was scrapped in December of 2006 due to further script problems.[31]

Williams said in an interview that the sequel was scrapped.
