Nathan Young is the author of "Misfits: Why did Robert Sheehan really leave?"

Nathan Young was a member of the original gang.Nathan gained the power of immortality after the Storm, which he discovered months after, when he was facing against the brainwashed Virtue organisation. After falling in love with Marnie, he sold his immortality to a man who would use it to win millions at a casino in Las Vegas. He was played by Robert Sheehan in the first two series.

Nathan was born on March 15th 1989 and grew up in Ireland, largely raised by his mother Louise as his father Mike was very distant. He claims to have been raised as a Catholic by child-molesting priests.Jamie, Nathan's half-brother, was born at this time, although Mike chose to stay with Louise and Nathan rather than Jamie and his mother.Mike remained a shadowy figure in his son's life, even leaving Nathan alone for three hours after he treated him to a birthday visit to Ikea.Nathan was looked after by a pedophile and his father forgot about the mistake.

According to Nathan, his first sexual experience was with a friend of his mother's who gave him a handjob while he slept.

While out with some friends, Nathan stole some pick 'n' mix sweets and soft drinks from the bowling alley. The reason he is doing community service is because he called the police on Beverly Morgan.During the event, his father Mike was summoned to help, but due to his own bitterness towards him, he decided to have the police take care of it.

Nathan picked on Simon at every turn at the start of his community service.Nathan was disappointed to have looked the same after the Storm and was trying to figure out what his power was.

His lack of tact resulted in his mother throwing him out of the house and choosing Jeremy over his own son.Nathan took up residence in the Community Center.Jeremy was naked and assuming animalistic behaviors when he was hit by the storm. He was shocked to learn that his mother was aware of Jeremy's condition and accepting of him, even though he used this as an opportunity to defaming Jeremy.Nathan received a slap from his mother and recoiled to the flat of Ruth, an attractive young women he met at the community center.Ruth looked at an elderly woman to Nathan's disgust.Ruth said that the storm made her young again and that her power was starting to fade.Ruth died the day after Nathan left, despite her pleas.Nathan realized his wrongdoings after Ruth's death.Nathan didn't want his mother to die alone and decided to not return home.

The others on community service find Nathan's personality annoying.Nathan is very disappointed by the fact that he manages a friendly relationship with Kelly on the hopes that she will shag.Despite Nathan's constant ridicule, Simon and Nathan are shown to be friends with Nathan often giving the more naive Simon tips on how to get girls.

Nathan met Marnie, a single mother with a similar attitude.Nathan becomes more and more excited about being a father to her child as the relationship progresses, even though she has no idea who the father is.The other misfits help her give birth.

After the birth of baby Jesus Marnie, the Mistfits begin to sing "Little Donkey" and share a touching moment near the manger. The moment was ruined when Marnie panicked and thought she was going into labor again, and Nathan stomped on what he claimed was an "alien baby" spraying everyone with blood. He sheepishly replied with " Merry Christmas one and all!"Nathan takes Marnie and her baby to Las Vegas. He was forced to stay in Vegas after being arrested for trying to scam a casino.Rudy answered the phone and didn't know who Nathan was so he hung up.Nathan yelled "Save me, Barry!" as he was dragged away by the police. The baby is from Vegas!

Like the rest of the misfits, Nathan's power is a reflection of his personality, which is that he cannot die by any means. When he reaches the point of death, he regenerates from any and all injuries, returning to life almost immediately. When he is not fat, he heals at a normal human rate; however, when he dies, the injuries will heal quickly. He has died many times and walked away unscathed. He was shot, stabbed, and beaten to death. His body won't age or grow old.He will stay young for the rest of his life.Nathan doesn't surface until he is killed after falling from a rooftop and being impaled, while the rest of the misfits discover their powers on the day after the storm. He regained consciousness after his funeral but was trapped in his coffin with his iPod next to him.

When the group received a message from 'Superhoodie' telling them to visit Nathan's grave, Kelly heard Nathan thinking while having a wank and realized he is still alive.Nathan jumps up and declares he's immortality after the gang digs him up.

His power is shown in Episode Four.In this episode, Tony murdered the misfits, except for Nathan who was half dead when paramedics found him.The fact that his wounds are not fully healed suggests that he did not die completely before he was rescued.

Nathan's resurrection didn't go down well with his family, as his mother fainted and his father was angry after Nathan claimed that his death was an insurance scam.

She was presumed dead after the accident because Jamie appeared to be okay.Jamie tries to convince Nathan to go see their father, but Nathan discovers that Jamie is not real.He apologized to Ollie after he was shot.Nathan can see Kelly's ghost.

Nathan traveled to Las Vegas with Marnie and Nathan Jr.He was sentenced to jail for creating a die with the number seven on it, because he was able to conjure a red tulip for Marnie. He did not know that it was not possible to roll a seven on a die.

Nathan appeared in some of the splintered timelines caused by Time travel powers despite not appearing on the show for a long time.

Nathan's relationship with the other misfits is initially hostile, through a mutual attraction between him and Kelly lead to a brief romantic fling which she calls off as she sees him as more of a cousin than a boyfriend.Nathan is still friends with Kelly and he cares about her.

As the series progresses, Nathan's relationship with Simon improves.Nathan initially teases Simon relentlessly, referring to him as a weird kid and a 'panty sniffer' among others.Nathan opens up about his personality in the second season. After Simon stood up for himself, Nathan concluded that he wanted to be friends with him, even though he had hurt him.

After this encounter, Nathan begins looking out for Simon in his own way and Simon begins laughing more freely at his jokes and even attempting to duplicate them.Nathan seems to have developed an odd friendship with him, as he admits to Alisha that he likes Simon, attempts to protect him from Jessica, and enthusiastically congratulates Simon for losing his virginity. After Simon gained more confidence, Nathan joked that he preferred him when he was shy.

Nathan's relationship is changing.Nathan's jokes and offensive comments usually make Alisha laugh, and in most cases they work well together.Alisha denies being his friend on a lot of occasions. When Nathan dies for the first time, he seems to be the least affected, though she is willing to comfort the distraught Kelly.

Nathan is often called a "prick" by Curtis.Nathan likes to talk about how his career is in tatters after getting caught.Even though he was sad about Nathan's death, he got along with him.

When he had to break up with his girlfriend, he went to Nathan for advice on how to end the relationship. The advice he gives Curtis is terrible, but he uses it anyways, possibly showing some level of misguided faith in Nathan's relationship skills. It shows that he may trust Nathan more than he lets on.

Nathan has never seen or spoken to Rudy in person but has talked to him over Simon's phone once.Rudy hung up on him when Nathan called him from jail in Las Vegas because he referred to Simon as Barry.Rudy hung up after Nathan sounded like he was in trouble.Rudy has a habit of not caring about things that don't affect him, hence his ability.

Nathan wears a range of clothes that are dark in color. One notable piece of clothing is his black Harrington jacket, which is usually worn over graphic t-shirts.He wears skinny jeans, black or denim, and simple Burgundy, teal or grey t-shirts.He wears black and grey converses with a metal necklace around his neck.Occasionally he will wear an open shirt over a t-shirt.He wears jumpers and cardigans throughout the series.

Nathan had the word "PAY" drawn over and replaced with "BLOW" at the back of his community service jumpsuit.

There are several tattoos on Nathan, including a swallow on his back, a crest pattern under his arm, and two black stars on the inside and outside of his wrist.

"It's nice that the show is successful but it doesn't mean complete blind and unadmonished loyalty - if something is very successful you should stick to it like a barnacle!" he said. That's definitely not what I'm thinking.I think I made the right decision. There is no point in saying never. It is a very fond place in my heart. No, it's been a big part of my life and there is no point in giving up on something completely.I wouldn't say never, but I'm not doing that.

He was nominated for a BAFTA for his portrayal of Nathan, but lost out to Martin Freeman. He was nominated for an award at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival. He was described as a "curly haired Irish smart alec called Nathan, to whom writer Howard Overman has given all the best lines".His only power seems to be the gift of back-chat.He's the main star of the show.Boxcutters commented negatively on the characters of the show, saying it was filled with unattractive and very annoying characters, but they responded positively, asking "Why do we find it so strangely compelling?"Despite his fervent hopes, the tousle-haired Irish boy cannot fly.Motormouth Nathan was the pivot here, prodding, challenging and provoking the others into revealing themselves. The Independent said that Nathan was the most quotable of the five and that he would get all superhero-ish if he joined the circus. He was described as a cult hero by the Metro.Nathan said he was the star of the show.

The Guardian questioned "Can Misfits survive without Nathan?" before describing him as a "cocky motormouth".Digital Spy commented that he was "loved" after the character's exit was confirmed.Rather than dismiss this key character with a couple of lines of mumbled dialogue, his farewell is deftly handled in an online mini-drama all of his own.The absence of Nathan, who was universally popular and well-liked, was the "starkest" difference in the series according to the Independent's Neela Debnath.Although Nathan was the most entertaining character on the show because of his "schoolboy humour and penchant for annoying everyone but the audience", his departure did not detract from the quality.Rudy questioned if there was a void after Nathan left.Well... Nathan who?
