Password recovery with confreg 0x2142 isn't working.
I tried to use the configuration Register to boot without a password, but it didn't work.I still have to give a password for console access.
The device restarts. The saved configuration is ignored due to the fact that the configuration register is set to zero.It is possible that the configuration register was not changed prior to the crash.Start over again if this is the case. After the reload, you get the initial configuration questions if the configuration register is changed correctly.
After the console port is taken over by the RP, you can break the terminal keyboard. The SP boots first on the Catalyst 6500.The control is turned over to the RP.The break sequence should be started after the RP gains control. When you see this message, the RP has control of the console port.Don't start the break sequence until you see the message.
You have about 10 seconds to complete Step 6 before the switch crashes.
Refer to the Standard Break Key Sequence Combinations During Password Recovery for other key combinations if the break sequence doesn't work.
You have to change the config register 10 seconds after the transfer of control over to the RP.

I can't get my break sequence to work to get into the game.I cannot do the confreg 0x2142 and reset commands.I can't do a pwd recovery because the config is still in tact.I have tried a number of things, but nothing. Please help.Thank you, Mike.

There is no inclination in regards to this message "00:00:03: %OIR6-CONSOLE: Changing console ownership to route processor"
I put in the command confreg 0x2142 and reset it so that it loads as normal or it goes into rommon. If I enter enough times I get into console, it will allow me to set commands, but once reset it reverts back to the original configuration.
I am trying to recover the password by rommon1, but I usually have an error on the command confreg, any idea why?
I ran into the same issue with a Cat.While in rommon, the command confreg 0x2142 would be used.It wouldn't change the reg set up.I had to find another page that showed what each reg code actually means in order to get it to change to, so I gave a link to the site I went to.I had to make a few changes to get it done.I changed it to the 2142 or 2141.
Ignore system config info, console baud: 9600, and autoboot from commands specified in 'BOOT' environment variable.
Do you want to change the configuration? Is there adiagnostic mode?Is it possible to use the net in the address of the bcast?Allow "load rom after netboot fails"?"Use all zero broadcast?"Allow "break/abort has effect"?Ignore system config info?Y/n [n]:
When I changed this to (2) the reg at reset was 0x2 not sure why, but it should have been.
Load rom after netboot fails, ignore system config info, and autoboot from the first file from internal flash device.
I used the cisco link to figure out what I needed to do to make the reg.
