Pros and cons of raising the driving age to 18
Should the driving age be raised to 18 from the current 16?It is thought that older teens will make more responsible decisions behind the wheel, but not everyone agrees.There are pros and cons to consider.
1.It could help with the youth issue.Today's kids are dealing with weight issues.The percentage of Americans who are overweight keeps increasing.Raising the driving age to 2 years may encourage older teens to exercise more and learn healthier habits since the car isn't available to them.
2.It stops people from multitasking.In the younger teen years, distracted driving can be very dangerous.At the age of 18, there have been changes made so that technology isn't as important as driving.
3.It could lower teen deaths.The teen driving experience includes high speed thrills.There is more decision-making skills that have been practiced in the two years from 16 to 18 that can help to limit dangerous thrill seeking experiences.
1.Not getting to drive doesn't give you experience.Raising the driving age to 18 or 25 or even 40 won't change the fact that inexperience is the cause of many accidents.The only place for teens to get experience is behind the wheel.
