Do you install interior doors before or after carpet?
The standard procedure is to install carpet after the doors and trim are installed. If you were installing vinyl or tile, you would do the same, but hold off on any quarter round trim until you're done. The important consideration, particularly for pre-hung doors, is how high to install it above the subfloor.Jul 15, 2013
Does a Prehung door sit on the subfloor?
Yes, as long as the rough opening allows you to true up the door for proper operation. Quote: the metal exterior sill that comes with the prehung door now sits a touch higher than the finished floor.Jan 15, 2014
What should be installed first flooring or doors?
3 Answers. I like to put the flooring in first. If you're working on the last row against a wall with a door in it, and you have to cut a piece that's half strip against the wall for half its length, and a full strip in the doorway, it's easier to get it into place if the jamb isn't in the way.Mar 3, 2012
Should there be a gap between door and floor?
The gap at the bottom of an interior door should be 2 inches from an unfinished floor. Over a finished floor, the gap should be between ¾ to ½ of an inch, depending on the type of floor you have. The gap at the bottom of an exterior door should be almost nonexistent.
