Slurring your words can be caused by anxiety, being drunk, or having a neurological problem and carries a negative connotation. Most people attempt to fix slurred speech, but you may want to try and slur your words. It's possible to slur your words if you position your tongue and mouth the right way.
Step 1: As you speak, keep your lips close together.
The more open your mouth is, the harder it will be for you to say words.Keep your lips partially open while speaking. This will add to the slurring of your speech.
Step 2: You should push your tongue up to the roof of your mouth.
You can slur if you don't have enough room in your mouth.Push your tongue to the roof of your mouth in order to speak. If you don't move your tongue, you will slur.
Step 3: Speak with a pen in your mouth.
Put a pen in your mouth and speak. You will notice that you are slurring your words. After you take your tongue out of your mouth, try to replicate it with a pen.
Step 4: Don't use exclamation points.
You should not leave a pause for periods. As if it were a run on sentence, just flow from statement to statement. This will make your words hard to understand. It seems like you are slurring your sentences together if you speak on a lot of topics in succession.
Step 5: Slowly and quickly, alternate speaking.
Changing the speed of your speech will make it sound like a slur.Speak slowly within your sentences.
Step 6: Don't say whole words.
It makes it hard for people to understand you and will make it sound like you are slurring. To make it sound like you are slurring, say the middle portions of the words. You can say "Ey, ov ere" to make it sound like you're slurring.
Step 7: You are saying something that is not right.
One way to make a slur seem realistic is to repeat the same word over and over. This will make it seem like you can't get the word out and increase the believability of your slur. You can say something like, "Tey te eh They we war were going."
Step 8: The pitch of your voice needs to be changed.
The key to your pitch is your tone.Speak in a high, then low voice, and continue alternating between them, instead of keeping your pitch the same as you talk.If you want to say "You know, I like you," start with a high pitch for "you" and then lower it for the word "know."
Step 9: Slurring is a good way to practice when you are alone.
Don't say anything when you're alone to perfect it.It will be easier to start slurring on command if you practice it more.
Step 10: Record yourself talking.
You can record your slurring practice sessions with an audio recorder. What we hear in our head is different to what other people say.If you want to improve your slur, record yourself and listen to the replay.
Step 11: If your slur is believable ask your friends or family.
Ask people you know if your slur sounds legit when you practice it in front of them. They can help you determine the authenticity of your slur and give you pointers on how to sound more realistic.
