South Park Mexican has been sentenced for 45 years in prison.
Carlos Coy (born October 5, 1970), also known as "SPM" or "South Park Mexican", is an American rapper, founder of Dope House Records, and convicted sex offender.He was raised in the South Park neighborhood in Houston, Texas.
In 1994 Coy began his musical career.He, his brother Arthur, and one of their friends founded Dope House Records.South Park Mexican was released under the same label as Hillwood.
Coy was sentenced to 45 years in prison in 2002 after being convicted of sexual assault of a child.He is eligible for parole in four years.He has continued to record music while in prison.
Coy's mother dropped out of high school to marry a man who was a Marine.Three years after Coy's birth, their marriage ended.Sylvia described herself as Coy's mother.He entered the music program at the middle school.He attended Woodson Middle School after his family moved to South Park.In his early teens, he became a crack cocaine dealer.Brad Jordan, also known as Scarface, attended Woodson.He was expelled from his high school in the ninth grade.Coy failed all of his classes at San Jacinto Junior College after obtaining a GED and earning a business associate's degree.After being out of work for a second time, he worked as a door-to-door perfume salesman and a crack cocaine dealer.[3]
Coy felt like he was ostracized when he began his career as a Christian rapper.South Park Mexican and SPM were recorded by Coy in 1994.Dope House Records was founded in 1995 by Coy, his brother Arthur Jr. and a friend from Texas.Hillwood was Coy's debut album as South Park Mexican.After promoting his first album for two years, Coy started working on his second.His second album, Hustle Town, was released in 1998.The Houston underground rap scene loved the album.
Power moves: The table was Coy's third album and received mainstream attention."High So High" was the lead single of his fourth album, "The 3rd Wish: To Rock the World", which was released on November 23, 1999.In February 2000 he signed a joint venture with Universal Music Group which resulted in a $500,000 advance and national distribution.Time is Money and The Purity Album were released by Universal.The single "You Know My Name" peaked at #31 on the rap chart and at #99 in the R&B chart.South Park Mexican delivers raunchy lyrics about growing up in the barrio and living the party life.He focuses on working hard and hoping for a better life.[5]
