Steel cleat, end plate and fin plate steel beam connections were designed.
Our cold rolled sections are supplied by a range of cleats from Duggan Profiles.Below is a list of the various options.
Bolts on cleats are supplied primed as standard.Special request can be made for unprimed bolt on cleats.
They need to be welded to the mainframe. They are available in a variety of sizes.Unprimed Weld is supplied on cleats.
Bolt on or Weld on Cleats can be made with extended leg lengths.Special order extended leg cleats are available.Bolt-on versions may be primed or unprimed.
A stiffening rib is added to increase cleat strength.Special order stiffened cleats are available.Bolt-on versions may be primed or unprimed.
Unprimed bolt-on cleats are not a standard product. There is an extended lead time.Special order versions of bolt on cleats are also available.
The cleats are used with both sections. They are used regardless of the finish of material used for the cold-rolled.The joint arrangements are outlined in diagrams. For bolt-on cleats 2 M16 Grade 8.8 bolts are used to secure the baseplate to the steel structure. There is an additional 18mm hole for the safety harness connection. There are manufacturing restrictions that limit the maximum length of cleat that can be used to 450mm.The standard bolt on cleat is not shown in the diagrams below.
The table above is where the most authoritative cleat selection method is found. The Cleat Selection Guide has also been prepared and is included below. The conditions of use should be noted by users.
The maximum roof pitch is given in the table above. The calculations are based on maximum load of 1.5 kN/m2 and maximum spacing of 1.8m.An unstiffened cleat can be used up to 18 with a corresponding span not exceeding 6m.Readings are based on standard cleat length and not extended leg cleats.
The cleats should be used when ordering. The codes for each product are included in the relevant page.Refer to a drawing of a typical extended leg cleat to see the dimensions this refers to.The product codes and drawings can be found in the extended leg cleat section.
