Banished is a city-building strategy game where you help create a thriving community from a few people, surviving harsh winters and deadly famine, and maintaining a delicate balancing act so your villagers stay alive. It is easy to get into the game, but initial attempts to build a perfect community will most likely frustrate the novice strategy player.Banished is a difficult game to master, but it is not impossible.
Step 1: Make a new game.
The game is easy at this point. To start your adventure, you must first decide on a town name, create a random map seed, and then select through the rest of the options you deem suited to your gaming level.Valleys and Mountains are both terrain types.Valleys have more flat land and forests which make them great for beginners.A lot of the ground in the mountains is not even.It takes a lot of resources to get through one side of a mountain to the other.Small, Medium, and Large are the sizes of the map. Most players prefer Medium.Climate change is a factor in your game.Fair has longer, earlier cold days and Mild has shorter winters.Farming becomes impossible if you choose harsh. It is a good choice for starting a game. There is a chance of disasters in your village, such as tornadoes sweeping across town and fire spreading to nearby buildings.Even if there is not enough food, there will be a possibility of death. There isn't enough firewood or coal to heat homes. It is possible that you have crop fields, pasture, and orchards.During a break, you can raise the same animals or crops in nearby fields.People in poor health are more at risk of sickness. This option should be used for challenges. The conditions and resources you hold at the start of the game are determined by this option.A large amount of clothing, food, firewood, building materials, and tools are provided to six families. There are already homes and storage areas built, as well as seeds for fields and orchards.Five families are provided with clothing, food, firewood, tools, and construction materials. You are given seeds for fields and orchards when you build a Storage Barn.Four families have a small amount of clothing, food, firewood, and tools. There are no seeds for farming. If you're new to the game, Medium is a good choice to give you a feel of it.
Step 2: Focus on what you have.
Keep an eye on your resources as you start the game.Low on food means your people will starve and die, decreasing the population of your town and leading to days of struggle.Building homes slows down when there are fewer workers. To avoid this situation, establish a source of food such as the Fishing dock, Gatherer's hut, Hunting cabin, Crop field, and Pasture.Logs are used for buildings, tools, and firewood. There are people who help maintain the forest trees. It is produced by harvesting stone piles around the map or building a quarry. You can harvest it around the map or build a mine for constant supply.During cold or winter months, chop logs into firewood with a Woodcutter.Gained through mining or trade, a Blacksmith can make steel tools. It can be used as an alternate heat source.Gained from operating a Hunting Cabin or slaughtering cattle in pasture, you can use it to make clothes for your people.Gained from pasturing sheep, you can use it to make clothing. It is produced by many people. They are your people's source of medicine when their diet is poor. All workers need them to perform their jobs more quickly. It is important to keep citizens warm in winter.Beer can make your citizens happy.
Step 3: You should control your population.
Citizens can start working at the age of 10.Sickness, disasters, accidents, or just old age can cause people to grow old and die.Keeping in mind that a sudden population boom may lead to a food shortage, keep increasing your population. To grow your town, you need to build homes for your citizens to live in.At the age of 10, citizens can start a family.
Step 4: Prepare for the winter.
Play and plan for survival now that you know the function of resources.Keeping your citizens from starving will be one of the greatest challenges. When you can't farm crops, gathering food is a good alternative, but remember to build your Gatherer's hut in the forest where plants grow. The Food Production tab requires 30 logs and 12 stones to build Gatherer's Hut.Since Gatherers, despite the bad climate, will keep on gathering food, it is best to keep the number as high as possible.Gatherers are the best food source in any season, so build as many as you can, but keep them away from each other.Don't let the range circles overlap. If you want to use Gatherers, build a Storage Barn nearby. The details will show if you click on it.Once the limit is reached, no more food will be produced. For as much food as the Storage Barn can hold, keep the food limit high.Food such as berries, mushrooms, onions, and roots are produced by gatherers. If you're playing in a fair or mild climate, you can build a fishing port or farm to have alternative food sources. If you want to hunt deer for meat and leather, you can build a Hunting Cabin. If you want to decrease the wild- animal population, make sure to cut down trees.Hunting Cabins should be built away from towns as wild animals avoid areas of civilization.Chicken, sheep, and cows can only be gained from trade if you're playing on normal or easy mode.
Step 5: Logs and firewood can be found here.
A lodge defines an area where foresters chop down mature trees for logs.Since the growth of the forest is maintained by the Foresters, a lodge should be built next to a Gatherer's hut.More root crops and forest food will be gathered.Trees will naturally grow in areas with few trees. This process takes more time than when forests are maintained. You need 32 logs and 12 stones to build a lodge. The maximum number of Foresters per lodge is 4.Details will appear if you click on the building.Clicking on the cut button will allow the cutting of mature trees. The logs will be placed on top of the nearest stockpile when trees are cut.Clicking on the button will allow the planting of trees.Once the log limit is reached, no more logs will be produced.Your citizens need firewood to survive the winter. You need logs to make firewood.A Woodcutter requires 24 logs and 8 stones, with 1 worker maximum. The firewood will be stored on top of the nearest stockpile.
Step 6: There is a market and a trading post.
You should build a Market and a Trading Post if you have steady resources, food production, and population.A market is a centralized location for goods.Vendors will visit Storage Barns to collect resources for the Market. You can build most of your houses in the part of town where the market is.People living nearby can collect goods at the Market instead of going to storage barns.citizens can enjoy a large variety of food and supplies since all resources are inside the MarketThe town uses a Trading Post to buy things. You can exchange resources for livestock, crops, seeds, meat, wool, and more. The Trading Posts are built by the lake.Without access to the main river in the town, lakes won't receive merchants.Merchants normally bring random goods to the Trading Post, but if you want them to bring a specific item, you can order it using the "Orders" tab.To meet the equivalent trade amount of the item you want to purchase, you need enough resources stored in your Trading Post.
Step 7: Don't build roads and bridges.
It's easier to travel on roads.Citizens have access to neighboring flat lands through bridges across rivers, streams, and lakes.Resources can be gathered if there is more access to the other side of the water.
Step 8: The town hall should be built.
As soon as possible, build the Town Hall as this will mean more record data overviews of the population, education, health, workers, happiness, clothing, resource limits, workplace, acquired seeds, livestock, and many others. The Town Hall can allow you to invite or deny citizenship to people who wish to join your town.Accepting nomads will increase the risk of diseases. To avoid this, build a hospital.
Step 9: A boarding house can be constructed.
Make sure you build temporary housing for the homeless before you invite them to your party. After a disaster, a Boarding House can prevent people from freezing to death waiting for their new home to be built or repaired.By clicking the "Boarding House" button, you will be able to see all the inhabitants and inventory.
