If you have a piece of clothing that doesn't fit right because of the tight elastic, you can make some quick adjustments to make it fit better for you.You don't have to use a sewing machine to make these adjustments. You can either remove the elastic or stretch it to make it fit.
Step 1: Attach the iron to the cloth.
You want to set your iron to the highest setting.Put a face cloth or hand towel under the water.
Step 2: Take care of your pants.
The ironing board can be stretched to the desired length if you pin each side of your pants to it.The pants can be slid around the ironing board until they are the right width.
Step 3: Put the damp cloth over the elastic.
If you are trying to stretch out the elastic, make sure it is completely covered. If necessary, use two cloths.
Step 4: The elastic has to be iron.
With the damp cloth on top of your elastic band and iron on the highest setting, iron over it.Allow for 10 seconds to iron and then sit.Continue doing it for a while. As the elastic heats, it will heighten the breaking weight of your pants. It will be able to stretch more before it reaches its limit.
Step 5: It is necessary to repeat as necessary.
Try flipping your elastic band and repeating the process if it hasn't stretched enough.Do it until you get the fit you want.
Step 6: Find a chair.
You can stretch the elastic with a chair that is the right size. You can use the side of a small table, empty drawer, or empty poster frame if you don't have a chair that's the right size.
Step 7: You can stretch your clothes over your chair.
Line up the sides with the side of the chair. The elastic will be stretched evenly.
Step 8: Let it rest.
Allow your elastic to be stretched for 24 hours. If the desired size isn't reached, put the elastic back in the stretched position and leave for a few days.It will help the elastic band stretch if it is left in a warm place.
Step 9: The clothing should be turned inside out.
It will be easier to work with.If you can see what you are doing, you will be less likely to make an error.
Step 10: Find the inside seam.
Sometimes elastics are sewn into clothing. If you cut somewhere other than the seam, you won't be able to pull the elastic out.Hold onto one side of the seam and stretch the other side. You can cut wherever you want if you feel the elastic shift.Make sure to cut here if you feel a problem at the seam.
Step 11: Place a small slit on the inside of your clothing.
To get rid of the elastic band, make a slit. You have to cut the size of the elastic if it is sewn into the seam.
Step 12: Cut the elastic.
Cut the elastic with scissors.Don't cut any more holes in your clothes by cutting through the entire elastic.
Step 13: The elastic has to be pulled out.
You can use a safety pin to affix a long shoelace or ribbon to one end of the elastic.Pull on the end without the ribbon when you pull out the elastic. This will lead you to your new tie.If you don't want a tie, just pull the elastic out, be careful not to catch a lose string and bunch your fabric.Your clothes are ready to wear once the elastic is out.It is not necessary to sew the slit closed before you wear your clothes.
