Cleaning a Tassimo coffee machine is easy. You can get this done in less than an hour and be back to drinking coffee in no time.If you want to do a quick cleaning, you can do it in less than 10 minutes. The machine will do most of the work for you if you need less than 30 minutes.
Step 1: The yellow or orange disc is in the machine.
One is required for every Tassimo coffee machine. If you put this disc in the coffee Pod slot, your machine will know you're cleaning it instead of making coffee. It's usually hidden in a slot at the back of the machine, but it could be in another area if you have a different type of machine. There is a yellow or orange disc in a hidden slot. The disc needs to be pulled out.Check the instruction manual that came with your machine if you can't locate the disc. This disc is needed to clean your machine. You can buy a replacement part online if you lost it.
Step 2: The brew head has a disc in it.
The brew head is where you stick yourpods.Put the cleaning disc inside.Make sure the barcode is facing down. The brew head needs to be closed. At the top of the front is the brew head.Put the disc inside by lifting the cover.
Step 3: Make sure the tank is half full.
As the tank comes completely away from the machine, pull it out.Set it back in place by filling it with water. You can fill the tank with a cup or container if you prefer. The machine needs to have enough water for the process.Half a tank is enough for a quick cleaning, as you only need to run the water through once.If you want to run the water through more than once, you may need to fill it up a bit more.
Step 4: The front of the machine has a container underneath it.
As the water comes out of the machine, you need something to catch it.If you want a glass measuring cup that holds at least 9 fluid ounces, you can use a large mug.
Step 5: The start button is located on the right side of the machine.
The same button is used when making coffee. The machine will pour hot, fresh water through itself if you hit it once. There is an orange cup on the front of some machines.
Step 6: Remove the water from the disc's holder.
The process is finished when the water stops coming out the front.Be careful as it will be hot when you open the brew head.Pour out the water that came from the machine when you put it back into its holder. The cleaning process is over if the machine has a blinking orange light in the shape of a cup.
Step 7: The tank should be filled with water.
You can add water to the tank by removing it.If you prefer, you can use a cup or container to add water to the tank instead of taking it out of the machine.About every 400 cups you make, descale the machine.Depending on how many cups you drink a day, you can estimate when to do it.
Step 8: The tablets will be added to the tank.
Drop them in the water. You might need to stir them around a bit to make sure they are dissolved in the water.Put the tank back in place if you took it out to fill it.Descaling tablets can be found online or in big box stores.
Step 9: Put the service disc in the brew head.
The orange or yellow disc has a barcode. It's on the machine.Go to the back of the machine. When you find it, open the brew head and put the disc in with the barcode facing down.At the top of the front is the brew head. It's where you put your coffee. You will not be able to descale your machine without the disc. You can buy a replacement part online if you lost it.
Step 10: To catch the water that comes out, put a container under the spout.
You can use a container that can take the heat.Make sure it has at least 17 fluid ounces in it.The quick-cleaning process will release less water than the descaling process.
Step 11: Hold the button in place for 5 seconds.
Keeping hold of the button tells the machine you want to descale rather than just clean it.An orange light on the front may start blinking, depending on your machine. The same button is used for both coffee and cleaning.
Step 12: You have 30 minutes to check on the machine.
There's no need to keep an eye on the machine because the descaling process takes longer than the quick-cleaning process. The orange light will stay on on the front when it's done. When the machine is done with the process, pour out the descaling water.
Step 13: Remove the water tank and fill it again.
Remove any water left in the tank and then wash it with soap and water to get rid of the descaling solution.Set the tank back in place by filling it up again.Don't leave soap or descaling solution behind if you rinse the tank thoroughly.
Step 14: The quick cleaning cycle can be run 5 times.
You don't need to hold the button down for 5 seconds if you press it quickly.Allow the cycle to run completely.Get rid of the descaling solution in the machine by repeating the process 4 more times. You don't want to overflow the container when you clean it.
Step 15: Put the service disc back in its slot.
Take out the service disc by opening the brew head. The disc will be hot, so be careful.Next time, put it back into its holding spot. You need to refill the tank to make coffee.
Step 16: The catch at the bottom needs to be cleaned.
Simply grab a hold of the catch and pull it out.It will come apart into two parts, the lid and the basin.Place it in the dishwasher for cleaning or scrub it with soap, water, and a sponge. Before taking parts off, turn your machine off.Check your manual or look online for your machine if you don't know how it comes apart.
Step 17: If your cup holder comes off, remove the backing.
The curve behind your cup is formed by this part.It can get dirty from coffee splashes, so in some machines it just pulls out.Use your other hand to pop out the machine. If you want to clean it, place it in the dishwasher or sink.Simply wipe this area down with a damp rag and a bit of dishwashing soap if it doesn't want to come out.
Step 18: The holder is in the brew head.
You should see a clip at the front of the brew head if you open it.Lift the brew head and it may raise.Lift it up and unhook the clips at the back. You can put it in the dishwasher or scrub it down.Check your manual to see which parts come out and which ones are dishwasher safe.
Step 19: Remove the nozzle/piercing unit to clean it.
The front of the brew head is where you put your coffeepods. It should pop up into the brew head if you press up on the nozzle.Take it out when you reach in.Pull off the part at the bottom of the machine and the other part will come apart as well. You can either pop them into the dishwasher for easy cleaning or scrub them with a cleaning brush. If you pay attention to how they come apart, you can put them back together.
Step 20: Remove the barcode reader.
There is a brew head at the front. There is a piece of glass underneath where you place thepods. The barcode reader can become dirty and make it difficult for your machine to read it.Before putting everything back, clean it off.To clean the outside of the machine, use a damp rag and some dishwashing soap.
Step 21: Put the pieces back together.
All the pieces need to be put back in place. The nozzle/piercing unit should be reassembled the way it came apart.Tassimo is ready to use when you're done.
