Humans are inclined towards sin.Sin gives us tangible yet fleeting benefits at the cost of moral and spiritual ones, so everyone feels the urge to sin at some point. The urge to sin is called temptation. We are judged by the degree to which we stop temptations. You'll learn how to avoid temptation and fight it when it finds you.
Step 1: Personal flaws and temptations are what create them.
Everyone has temptations. If you're not satisfied with yourself, pin down the personality traits that lead you to be that way.Maybe you prioritize pleasure over responsibility. Two people are not the same. It's possible that your temptations are different to those of your friends, family, or associates.A priest, counselor, or other trusted person can help you discover your unique temptations and flaws.According to Christianity, even Jesus was tempted to do something.Take a few moments to identify your personal temptations. If you're having a hard time defining what your temptations are, begin by identifying the things in your life that make you sad, then try to find a thought process or habit that leads to these things.Let's say you're in a committed relationship with a woman you love but you frequently feel guilt because you flirt with other women.Find your heart. What makes me want to act like this? You may find that you are worried about whether you're still attractive after some reflection.Your sense of security is the source of your temptation.
Step 2: Set realistic goals to fight temptation.
When fighting temptation, you should take into account the fact that you aren't perfect.Don't set a goal that is impossible to achieve. You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you do.You will inevitably sin again.Take this into account when setting a realistic goal.If you've been neglecting your child's vocal recitals in favor of nights spent at home watching TV, you might set a goal of never missing another vocal recital and of reducing your time spent watching tv by four hours. This goal is doable. You should never commit murder or adultery if you have a zero-tolerance goal.Damage to others' lives can be caused by these sins.
Step 3: It's time to take responsibility for yourself.
For a reason, you were blessed with free will.Don't allow the separate temptation of inaction and personal temptation to distract you from your duty to act against your own temptations! If you want to not give in to your temptation, stand up and take action.Getting started is the hardest part of overcoming temptation. If you tell yourself you can't do it, it will sabotage your journey.Christianity says that when Jesus died, he gave us authority over the forces of evil.Don't fear the forces of evil in your life.Nothing is beyond your grasp with hard work and sincere faith.
Step 4: Turn your back on the past.
Your past is the only thing you can't change about yourself.Don't allow yourself to be overcome by regret for past sins. The only correct path is forward.Acknowledge your mistakes without guilt if your past is marked by sin.Don't let your past mistakes get you down.Don't make your old mistakes again. You will have made progress away from your past if you relapse.Ask God for forgiveness if you haven't already.God is able to forgive.Once you are forgiven, it's as if you had never committed sin in the first place: Islam says whoever commits evil or wrongs themselves will find Allah All-Forgiving, Most Merciful."Abu Qatadah reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'You will never leave anything for the sake of Allah Almighty but that Allah will replace it with something better'."Their sins and iniquities will be forgotten.(Romans 12:19)
Step 5: People that lead to sin can be avoided.
Sin is easy because of certain people, places and situations.Certain sins are impossible if you don't have the right equipment.Make sure you don't get caught up in the things that lead you to sin.Don't go to the parts of town where these things are sold if you have a drug addiction.Don't hang out with friends who encourage you to vandalize. You're giving yourself less chances to fail if you distance yourself from the people and things associated with your sin. It's a good idea to help other people with their sins.Sinbad people can make it difficult to escape if you're struggling with temptations of your own.Wait until you have your temptations under control before returning to help these people. There are sources of temptation in your home.Throw out a collection of pornography. It is possible that you need to eliminate distraction from your own home.If your roommate convinces you to neglect your responsibilities, kick them out.
Step 6: Get assistance.
You can fight your temptations on your own.Asking for help from God or another person is normal.Don't hesitate to turn to a priest, sheikh, scholar, clergyman, pastor, counselor, or trusted friend if you're having difficulty avoiding temptations.Accepting help is a sensible thing to do and part of the purpose of these people is to help you when you are having difficulty. The temptation to look at pornography isn't necessarily seen as a sin by mainstream society. It would be better to consult a priest, rabbi, imam, etc. if you're looking for help with such a temptation.Rather than a secular person.
Step 7: You should occupy yourself.
The old saying "Idle hands are the devil's playthings" is true.If you keep yourself busy with good work or hobbies, you will have less time to yourself and more time where you might feel the urge to sin out of boredom. If you want toDevote yourself to your job or studies, take extra hours or sign up to be a tutor. It's a good idea to learn an instrument or a new language.Do anything you can to fill your time with activities that can help you grow closer to God, or that will make you a better person, if you have lots of free time.A homeless shelter, crisis center, or community outreach center is a good place to start thinking of things you can do to occupy your time. It's possible that the management can use your talents to help the unfortunate in your community.
Step 8: You should be persistent.
Temptation doesn't go away when you resist it.Temptation continues. The decision to fight a temptation can make it stronger. You may get cravings after a day or two without chocolate if you decide to resist it.It takes time for temptations to go away. This doesn't mean that you should give up.Fight the temptations with your teeth and fingernails.Even if you suffer setbacks, don't quit. You have a better chance of beating your temptation if you fight persistently.Don't reward yourself with "allowances" or "breaks".It's a good idea to resist the slippery slope of instant gratification. It is in God's eyes that this instant gratification can act dishonestly.Don't treat your temptations like bad habits.New good habits can be formed by repeating good behavior over and over again.
Step 9: Accept that it's inevitable.
It's impossible to live a life without temptations, no matter how hard you try.At certain times, we will feel a temptation to sin, whether it's as innocuous as the urge to lie about our reason for being late to a meeting or as serious as hitting someone. At some point, we will give in to this urge.It is possible to reduce the hold that temptation has over us.The fight against temptation is like a lifelong war, and you should be prepared to celebrate your victories and learn from your losses.
Step 10: Don't be discouraged by your own mistakes.
Don't fall prey to self-loathing.You aren't pathetic because you feel temptation.God forgives. If you find yourself falling prey to temptation again and again, don't get caught up in punishing yourself. You can use your time more wisely by asking for God's forgiveness and moving past your sins."Say, 'My servants who have done wrong, do not despair of the mercy of Allah.' "Allah forgives all sins.It is He who is the Merciful.Qur'an is 39:53.
Step 11: You should study the word.
When we're trying to avoid temptations, we can draw upon stories, teachings, and proverbs from the Bible. For an illuminating perspective on the difficulty of struggling against temptation, look to a passage like Romans 7:18, where the author says, "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing."Many of the most revered figures in the Bible struggled with temptation. The temptation of eating forbidden fruit was the first sin committed by Adam and Eve.One of King David's soldiers was killed so that he could steal his wife. The bible can help us understand how great men and women overcame temptation.
Step 12: When tempted, remember to trust God.
It is difficult to work through a temptation. It's hard to believe that God has abandoned us.Nothing could be further from the truth."Life is hard, so God must hate me" isn't just wrong, it's harmful.God is pulling for you when you're struggling with temptation.God wants you to succeed. He wants you to overcome your temptation.Don't lose your trust in God if he tests you.Stand up to his challenge.
Step 13: Follow the example set by the prophet.
They lived a perfect life.He was devoted to helping others. He was willing to endure the practice of nonviolence. He was resistant to temptations every time.Ordinary humans can't achieve it, but they can try.Muhammad is praised by the Qur'an as a great moral character.Christians believe that the blood of Jesus Christ is enough to cleanse us of all our sins.Contact a priest, minister, or other clergyman in your area if you're interested in Christ's salvation.
