Your vehicle's suspension is made of shocks and struts. They wear out over time and can eventually fail, even if you never need to replace them.
Most shocks will last from 50,000 to 100,000 miles. When shocks and struts go bad, what is the average cost to replace them?

The wear and tear on the suspension system of your vehicle has a negative impact on not just comfort, but safety.
Poor performance, dangerous swaying and body roll, and poor braking are some of the consequences of damaged shocks and struts.
If you think one of them is still good, you want to do it in pairs. There are serious handling and suspension issues that can cause unsafe driving conditions.
Depending on the make and model of your vehicle, the price you pay to replace the struts can vary quite a bit.
It will cost between $450 and $900 to replace a pair of struts. The cost of an individual strut assembly is between $150 and $300, so you're looking at around $300 to $600 for parts alone. The pair will cost you between $150 and $300.
You can almost be sure of paying at least $1,000 for a front strut replacement if you go to a car dealership. If you want to get the best price for this type of service, you should shop around and go with a trustworthy independent mechanic.
The wheel alignment should be done after the new struts are installed.A two-wheel alignment will add another $60 to $90 and if all four struts are replaced, a four wheel alignment is necessary.

Replacing a pair of shocks will cost between $250 and $580.You will pay between $100 and $280 for an individual shock absorber.A couple hours of labor is an additional $150 to $300.

Since the spring is part of the assembly, it's easier to replace them.A pair of parts can be replaced in less than two hours.

Agree. My 2000 Civic SI isn't cheap with repairs here and there, but definitely cheaper than a car payment and hike in insurance rates. On average, I drive 500 miles a month.I share expenses with a friend or rent a car when I need to go on a road trip.I need to find a mechanic that I can really trust.I was going to a place that I thought was good, but things weren't really repaired or I had to take it in multiple times.I need shocks/struts replacement.

The cost to replace front and rear shocks at the dealership was $1,900.The rear of the car would drift when going over ribbed roadway after 500 miles. My brother was the first to see it.On one occasion, the car almost jumped a lane. Both rear shocks failed when the car was returned to the dealership.Really? Both rear shocks were fixed by the dealership.I am sure they used cheap replacement parts. Many dealerships are greedy. You should consider yourself lucky if you can find an honest mechanic.
Great point. Some mechanics are better than others. They are not the best because they work at a dealership.A faulty installation is more likely since a dealer reputation is important.

The Ford is bucking like a bronco. It has over 120K miles.I went to the shop to get a replacement for the springs in the front and back of the vehicle.I was quoted $4800 with the alignment and taxes.I called around after declining the service. They said they would be able to cut costs and do it for $2250.This still sounds crazy based on what I'm reading.
It sounds like a shop to cut the price.I would get a quote from a different shop and give you an estimate of what it will cost.
