The Dawn washing soap product is a big soapy greenwash.

As I washed dishes in a house we rented with friends in Maine this summer, I pondered the dish soap, what else is there to do when you wash dishes?).

There was a picture of a mallard duck on the label of Dawn dish soap.I found no information about what wildlife they were saving when I searched the label. There is no link to a website for more information.

As we buy Dawn soap to use on our dishes, we are supposed to see the wildlife, sigh, and think happy thoughts.Dawn dish soap is poisoning the wildlife that it is supposed to be saving.

How?According to the Environmental Working Group, Dawn antibacterial dish soap contains the chemical Tricolsan, which is toxic to both humans and the environment.According to the Environmental Working Group, the chemical bioaccumulates in humans as well as animals, and can cause problems with the functioning of the thyroid.

Other critical hormone systems may be disrupted by triclosan. The chemical exerts both estrogenic and androgenic effects on human breast cancer cells.Studies of fish suggest that triclosan may have weak androgenic or anti-estrogenic effects.

The increasing rate of breast cancer in our country is one example of a chemical that may be contributing to the early onset of puberty.

Dawn soap and wildlife. There is a problem with tricolsan poisoning waterways.According to healthy child, healthy world.

Wastewater treatment plants fail to remove triclosan from the water because the compound is stable for long periods of time.In a U.S. Geological Survey study of 95 different organic wastewater contaminants, triclosan is one of the most frequently detected compounds.

Triclosan is toxic to aquatic life when it is in the water.I am sure that the mallard duck depicted on the Dawn soap is affected by the organisms that travel up the food web.

There is a link on Dawn's website about how they are saving wildlife. They donate bottles of their products to help clean up spills.I think this is a great effort. If the company is truly interested in saving wildlife, it will make its products less toxic for all humans, wildlife and waterways of the world.

Dawn is the most popular soap for cleaning animals after an oil spill. It doesn't bother the animals because it removes the oil residue the best.Either leave oil on the wildlife which can kill them or use a soap with chemicals that will clean them.

Is there a dish soap that cleans dishes without Triclosan? If that is the case, I would love suggestions.

I put my daughter's dishwasher through a wash cycle without dish soap.Everything came out clean. It seems that hot water is just as effective as detergents.

It's ironic that their soap is made with oil.The oil spills are their fault.

After oil spills, Liquid Dawn is used to clean wildlife.Dawn was used to save the lives of water fowl after the Exxon Valdez accident.I don't think Triclosan was in the formula at that time. It's interesting, though.I was under the impression that Triclosan was only in certain formulas and not the entire line.Triclosan is harmful to the environment and the human immune systems, so it should not be excused.Thank you for posting this.

We buy Dr. Bronner's liquid soap in a gallon where we live.It doesn't cut grease.Or remove stains. When we finish eating, we rinse everything, use glassware, and soak anything that has food stuck to it.Steel wool is also used.We use tools and pre-soaking to remove food than we do soap.25 bucks seems steep to you?I have had my first gallon in a year.I have had a separate gallon for bath use for a long time.I don't shower that often.:]

There is no triclosan in regular blue Dawn. That is the one used for the oil spills. It is safe, works for decades, and kills fleas on your pet. Can't beat that!

The ability of your soap to clean should not be affected by triclosan. It is an anti-bacterial agent.Di Limonene, a clear liquid from the peel of orange, is a natural de-greaser.

I volunteer in a wildlife hospital that frowns on added antibacterials because of the antibiotic resistance potential.I am dismayed when a product adds this ingredient.I have never used any of these products personally.I use health-food-store castille type soaps.

Regular Dawn has been used by various wildlife groups involved in oil spills for at least 30 years. It is the best way to clean the oil without hurting the birds skin or feathers.Dawn can claim to have benefited from the wretched fate of these birds.

I am trained to do rescue in oil spills, but it is a mixed bag in terms of the mess we have created on this planet. To conduct rescues from the oil spill, you need oil-based vehicles.I agree that the last products we should be giving our money to are assaults like unnecessary chemicals.

The birds were covered in oil.Other birds were eating fish that wasn't part of their usual diet.

Nevertheless. My 2 year old loved going on boat rides on the lake.He saw a lot of animals. Our first day in the park, we watched a bear.
