It is important that the floors are cleaned regularly in order to prevent them from getting scratched or warped, but using harsh cleansers can cause damage. For more intense cleaning, warm water or mild cleaners can be used. There are a number of ways to clean laminate floors.
Step 1: It's a good idea to sweep the floor.
Every few days, sweep a dry dust mop across the floor to remove dirt.Even though laminate flooring is scratch resistant, excess dirt, hair, and debris can cause scratches if allowed to build up over time.Such scratches can be prevented by regular sweeping. You could use a vacuum with a soft brush attachment instead of using a dry dust mop.Don't use a standard floor brush. The bristles on the brush are stiff.Place the tiles in the direction that they were laid. You can pick up any debris that falls in between the grooves of the flooring.
Step 2: Immediately clean up spills.
To clean up spills, use a cloth or sponge.Don't allow liquid or water to sit on the floor for a long time. The protective wear layer of the flooring can be damaged by liquid.Take excess liquid and put it in a dry cloth. Before cleaning the location of the spill, make sure the cloth or sponge is damp.Use a soft cloth to dry the spot.Don't let the area remain wet.
Step 3: Don't use a buffer, a steam cleaner or a mop for deep cleaning.
It's easy to damage Laminate because it isn't as strong as other flooring options.Use a mop and some elbow grease to clean your floor. The mop is safer for your floors than several passes to get the floor clean. You can always call a professional if you can't get your floor cleaned.
Step 4: If you need more cleaning power, use a mild detergent.
You can use a commercial product labeled for use on laminate flooring. As a little product goes a long way, be sure to read the label and use it correctly.Cleaning products that promise to create a shiny surface can cause a waxy build up on your floors.Pine scented products may leave a dull, soapy smell, so don't use them on your floors.
Step 5: Put hot water in a bucket.
The water does not need to be steaming hot. After a wide area of the floor has gotten muddy or dirty, a thorough, wet wash should be performed every few months. One of the best ways to clean laminate flooring is by using hot water.Since water is the mildest cleanser, it is less likely to damage the protective coating.
Step 6: Take out a mop.
Put a sponge mop in the hot water and wring it out so that it doesn't get wet.It is easier to control the saturation level of sponge mops than it is to use a traditional-style mop. Before using the mop, you shouldrung it out.Water can stain or warp the floor if it is allowed to sit on it.You should only use the mop on the laminate if it is mildly damp.
Step 7: It's a good idea to give the flooring a thorough mopping.
Start from the center and work your way out.You can work from one side of the room to the other. You should not work from the exterior of the room to the center since you will need to walk across the floor as it dries in order to leave.Since the mop is barely damp, you may need to re-soak it a few times during the cleaning process.
Step 8: The flooring needs to be dry.
You can let the laminate air dry if it's barely moist. If you have to, wipe it dry with a microfiber cloth.Since this may scratch the flooring, do not use an abrasive cloth.Don't allow puddles of water to sit on the laminate for a long time.
Step 9: There is a solution of water and vinegar.
The spray bottle has a capacity of 30 to 32 ounces. The rest of the bottle should be filled with plain water. If your laminate floor has been caked on mud or other stains that have caused it to become faded or dull,Diluted vinegar is a good idea. You have to combine it with water because it's too abrasive to be used in its pure form. You could combine 1/3 cup of vinegar with 3 squirts of liquid dish detergent and 1 gallon of warm water to create a similar solution.
Step 10: The solution should be sprayed onto the laminate.
In areas larger than 1 foot (30 cm) squares, spray the vinegar on the floor.Do not spray the entire floor at the same time. You need to wipe the solution off the floor almost immediately, and spraying the entire floor at the same time will prevent you from cleaning it off before it starts to wear away.
Step 11: The solution should be wiped up with a mop or cloth.
After spraying the solution on the floor, wipe it off with a damp sponge or terry mop.You could use a microfiber cloth.Do not use mops or cloths that are abrasive. It's a good idea to wring out the mop or cloth before using it.Don't soak the floor with water since it could cause it to warp.
Step 12: The laminate needs to be dry.
If there is a lot of water on the floor, you can wash it off with a microfiber cloth. If you only have a small amount of water left, you can allow it to air dry.
Step 13: Put hot water in a bucket.
Add warm to hot water to a bucket. The water does not need to be steaming hot.
Step 14: Add a baby wash.
The hot water can hold up to 30 liters of baby shampoo or mild liquid dish detergent.Since scented or dyed dish detergent are more likely to cause damage to the laminate, do not use them. There is a baby wash that is gentle enough to use on laminate floors. The soap and water will start to form bubbles when you mix them with your hand.Do not use strong cleaning chemicals.
Step 15: Take out a mop.
The mop should be soaked in the soapy solution. It should be ringed out thoroughly so that it is not too wet. It's a good idea to use soapy water to clean floors that have been exposed to mud, salt, and snow boots.Since you will be cleaning the entire floor at one time, mops are better than a microfiber cloth.Excess water can cause the flooring to become warped. It is important that you wring out the mop before it gets soggy.
Step 16: The floor should be wiped from one side to the other.
Start from one side of the room and work your way to the other side. You can start in the center and work your way to the outside of the room.Since you will have to cross over your newly cleaned floor to leave the room, the only thing you should avoid is working your way from the outside into the center.Re-soak and re-wring the mop is necessary to make your way across the floor.
Step 17: The laminate needs to be dried.
The flooring should dry quickly if you use a small amount of water. If there is no sign of air drying by the time you reach the other side of the room, you can dry it by hand.Don't allow puddles of water to sit on the laminate for a long time.
Step 18: Blood stains can be cleaned with a window cleaner.
Put a small amount of window cleaner on the stain and wipe it away with a damp cloth. There is a non-abrasive microfiber cloth. The easier it will be to remove the stain, the sooner you can attend to it.
Step 19: A plastic knife can be used to remove chewing gum.
Rub off any remnants with a soft, damp cloth after removing the gum.If you want the best results, damp the cloth with mineral spirits.Don't use a metal knife since it is more likely to scratch the floor.
Step 20: Use a damp cloth to wipe away soda, wine, crayon marks, and ink.
A mildly damp microfiber cloth can be used to remove these stains.Mineral spirits can be applied to the cloth in order to remove crayon marks. To remove stubborn ink stains, you may need to add detergent or ink removal to the cloth. You need to re- clean the area with a cloth soaked in warm, clean water.
Step 21: Get nail polish, shoe polish or tar off with acetone.
Put a microfiber cloth over the nail polish stain and scrub it up.After wiping the area with a microfiber cloth, soak it in clean water.
Step 22: Erase the marks with a pencil.
If you want to remove the marks, rub the eraser over them.
Step 23: Grease can be frozen away.
Grease can be applied to the spot with an ice pack or frozen vegetables. The frozen grease can be removed with a plastic kitchen knife.Don't use a metal utensil to remove grease. If you want to get rid of remaining grease, you can spray a small amount of window cleaner on the spot and wipe it off with a damp cloth.
