Paolo gives his account to the police after the news broke of the attack.She left a message to him saying "Thank you for being my friend" after he left information about the case on his computer.He realized that she would set out alone to find the man who framed her.A Salander goes to the hospital to apologize for getting her involved.Salander confirms the police sketch of Niedermann and then disappears.Knowing that he is Salander's friend, Miriam called Blomkvist to give him the keys to the hospital.Noticing that one of them is for a post office box, Blomkvist is able to access and read Salander's mail and locate her apartment.Salander waited for the post office box to be staked out to find Niedermann.She follows him to a small house after someone retrieves his mail.The video of Bjurman raping Salander can be seen in the material in Lisbeth's apartment.

Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film three and a half out of four stars, saying it was a step down from The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, but only because the first film was so fresh and unexpected.Rapace's performance is praised by A. O. Scott of The New York Times.She makes this movie enjoyable, but also makes you wish it was better.According to Lisa Kennedy of The Denver Post, it has not been seen since "Clint was roaming the Italian hillsides" that someone has had a "cold stare" like that.She notes that the film uses themes of sexism and corruption similar to the one used in the previous film.The violence against women and heroism of Fire is different from the violence of The Killer Inside Me, as some redemption is provided through revenge, according to the review.[6]
