The Last of the Summer Wine actor was buried beside his co-star.
The actor Bill Owen, who starred in Britain's longest running sitcom, Last of the Summer Wine, died yesterday at the age of 85.
Owen, who played the loveable rogue Compo in the comedy, had been ill with stomach and bowel cancer and had undergone emergency surgery.
Tom Owen said that his father died at King Edward VII hospital in central London.Bill Owen starred in the comedy for 26 years.
A millennium special of the series was being filmed in France when he fell ill.Even though he was in pain, he finished filming in France.The severity of his condition was revealed after he returned to Britain.The new series of the comedy was halted because of his illness.
He said to his co-star that he wanted to go on living, but he wasn't strong enough.
