The Tale of how the tiger got his stripes is a short story for kids.

The Year of the Tiger is celebrated with a legend of how the tiger got his stripes. On February 14th, 2010, the Chinese New Year, anyone born in this year will be lucky and brave.

The Chinese years were named after animals.Try the poem if you like tigers. The Tyger is spelled that way because it is archaic.

A long time ago, when animals still had the power of speech, a white, stripeless tiger crept to the edge of the jungle and looked out at the paddy fields. The man was eating his lunch under the tree.A buffalo is taking a rest from plowing the fields. The beast rubbed his tail to get rid of the flies.

The tiger crept forward on his belly, using his powerful arms to pull himself.I come to seek your advice, not to satisfy my hunger.Do you have the answer to my question? The little man is your master. He doesn't have a strong sense of smell or strength. He does not have strong hands or sharp teeth, yet he makes you work for him.You are a magnificent beast of strength.I know that you can compete with the best of the jungle beasts, because you are twenty times his weight and size.Wisdom is said to be the source of man's power. What is wisdom?Where does the man get it?

The buffalo answered, "Beats me, I have no idea."Why don't you ask him?

As he stood before the farmer, the tiger said, "Have no fear little man, for I have not come to satisfy my hunger."I am looking for wisdom. For it perplexes me, please answer my question. What is this thing that men call wisdom? What does it look like?Where does it come from?I would like to know if you will share some of it with me.

The man wiped the sweat from his forehead and said thatWisdom is very precious.I need to give you some of it.

The Tiger asked if you heard that sound. My stomach is throbbing.I have not eaten or slept in three days and I am starting to feel like I could eat.”

The man could hear a low rumbling sound. He said that he would share his wisdom with the tiger.I am afraid I left it at home today.I have to get it for you.I'm afraid the villagers will take fright if you come back with me.Will you wait here?

After walking around the man menacingly, the tiger said, "I will wait, but be sure to come back, or I will visit you in your field again tomorrow, and next time I might be more hungry than inquisitive."

The man had only taken a few steps when he turned back and begged for forgiveness.I worry about leaving a hungry tiger with my animals. Will you allow me to tie you to the tree while I am away?My fears will be at rest.

The tiger was afraid that the man would change his mind.He thought of the great power that only a little wisdom would give him, how with his strength and knowledge, he would rule the world. He agreed to let the man tie him to the trunk of the banana tree with a rope around his body and legs because he wanted this prize so much.

The man and his three sons went back to the field. Each carried armfuls of dry straw.

I have kept my side of the bargain here. The man and his sons laid the straw on the ground beneath the tiger. The man set it on fire. The tiger was burned by bright orange flames. After the fire burned through the ropes, he sprang to freedom and went for the river where he soothed his burnt fur.

The tiger's wounds healed, but his body still bore orange stripes where the flames and ropes burned him, and black ones where he was bound.

It was torture to the tiger. It was not his fault that he was hungry. Why would they burn him alive?I liked the story.

They did a good job of coming up with stores like that.

I don't think the tiger should have killed them or eaten them, but if I got burned alive, I would come back for revenge.-_-

Very go, very go.

Storynory is located at 26 Star Street, London, W2 1QB, UK.I'm looking forward to your pictures.

Is it really the year of the tiger that the evil man knows?

I think it's a website that can be used to learn English through stories.

Through this site, I can learn English.I would like to tell sweet stories to my country's children, because I got the dream for this web.I don't know. Can you tell me how to do it?

The story is interesting.I am studying your story. What do I mean? The most important part of speaking English is listenig.Write down your story I hear from you.Like talking to someone.Thank you so much.

I agree with Yohannes' point.Sometimes it is refreshing to hear a slightly less sentimental story.Modern stories portray man's relationship to animals in a way that isn't so cute.It is a fact that we are often brutal.Thank you for the comment.

Ki ya akanna. It's Liant yamkua.I like the story. It varies good.I'm not godd English.I would like to thank allah for the good story.

I think men are afraid of tigers and don't like the way they eat their farm animals. There were more tigers about that time.It is a shame to hunt tigers since there are only a few left in the world.

I liked the book, but there was a little bit of messing up with your porgram.

You make everything come to life when you read stories.Your voice is calm.Did you read at a young age?I think you learned to read when you were in kindergarten. You are also reading stories. When did you start reading?Do you like Pokemon books?

In the end of the country's story, the buffalo lost his teeth because he laughed after seeing the burned-tiger.

I enjoy listening to the fairy tale "How the Tiger Got Its Stripes" as a reading teacher because of its connection to Chinese New Year. The reader is clear and enthusiastic.A great addition to a classroom or home.Thank you!

Help! The tiger reminds me of the tiger in the book. The farmer had wisdom.I like to know why the fox got a white tale end or how the tiger got his stripes.

Kipling wrote a lot of Just So stories about how animals became "just so", and the tiger is very similar to the one in the Jungle book.

I told you that this was not my favorite story, but you should make more Greek stories like that. The country mouse and the town mouse are my favorites.

I'm glad you like the country mouse and the town mouse, it's a really unusual one!

The tiger is so cute.!

In the past tigers were plain and white, but now they are striped and orange because they get burned and tied with ropes. The story is so funny and I love it.

If it wasn't for the tiger, they would look ugly without stripes, and they look prety with stripes. That's right.

tigers are nice to look at with strips on them. Thanks to the farmer for making the tiger so nice to look.!

I don't like the part when the farmer burns the tiger with his sons.He is cruel.Do you agree that something bad happened to him after the tiger died?

I wonder where they got the picture of the paterns.

I have already listened to all of the stories, but I don't know when we'll get more.

I like the story but I don't like that famer who hurt a poor animal and killed it for nothing.

Your comment was appreciated. The story of how the Tiger got his stripes is a good one.The poem Tiger Tiger is on Storynory.com.

I like stories because they come to life in your head, and if you want wisdom, find it in the mind of the story.

It was nice.If you don't mind, I will ask for permission to use the story for my students and post it on my website.Allow me to use this for internal story telling competition at my school.Thank you.

If you ask me, the in order tips would be useful. Many thanks before.I am glad that you have learned about this focus.

How did he ruin a creature so much?Let the man know that he did something terribly mean.!

Good story, please make some about time warping.Man, get out.I will not give you my user name.

The year of the rooster comes up in 2017: we usually make the story in January to match the year.We could have a category with stories for each year. That may be a good idea.I will think about it.

I wish the tiger had never gotten its stripes because of what the farmer did.

I like your stories, but they were a bit sad. Please give me an answer.

I loved this story, it was awesome, and I love the tiger, he is so cool.I can't do it.!

I like this story because the tiger wants to be smart.

I like this realISTIC TALE.!

Every child in Vietnam knows it is a folk tale. The buffalo lost his teeth because he hit the rock laughing.

When my son asks me to write a story for him, I help him by finding this one.

Who makes these, the story was extra cool? What do you do when you listen to a story?I like to read the most.

I didn't take my eyes off the story, but it was weird at the same time.

I like it a lot, but it would have been better if he had used sharpie instead of getting hurt by a rope and burned.

There is a very interesting story.I go to Storynory first when I open my computer.I would like to thank you for the amazing stories. Please keep up the good work.

These stories are great.!

The moral of the story is that you can not take wisdom, but earn it.

I love it, no wonder tigers have stripes.?/

I like trains.There are tigers.Wait... I like trains.I don't know.You know what, forget it.

The poor tiger shouldn't have been burned alive and the man who burned him was scared.

I will make sure that the tiger is divided into pieces because what is it consenting to?

I like your stories. My Dad made sure that I listened to it every day, no matter where I was.Even if I am in China, I still listen to these stories.

I enjoy those stories.I am a Chinese person.I had heard many different versions of that story from my grandma.

CHiNa!CHiNa!CHINA!China!China!China!ChIna!:-!:'( :- O:-)

I was born in 2010 and I am a tiger.!

I would love to have this book, I need it.There is a person who is not related to another person. That's right.!

If you could have provided examples for what the Tiger thought wisdom was, like maybe he thought it was a special plant or something, I would have liked it more.

The story we were supposed to read in class was not the one I was looking for.

I would love to read this again and I thought the tiger would have stripes already.I love it.

Go, it's very good.

This is not the type of story I want to read. It's easy to daydream while reading it.It was boring and I fell asleep while reading it.It is rude to say that he got burnt and buried alive because tigers are almost gone. Can you tell more stories for Storynory?

I want to say that I am not a hater, but I wanted to give some more ideas.I am sorry if you took the wrong way. Thanks for reading the comment.

It's very, very important that you gooooooooooooooooooo.

tigers don't have stripes when they are born, but they all have different patterns, so I think this is fake.

It's very very important that you go and read the story.

It was like that, cos it was coy.

The story was nice but the tiger was stupid and I think the man gave him wisdom.

The story was interesting. The way it was read added more. They thought about each detail of the pattern on the tigers. It was a great myth.I enjoy Asian folk lore.I want to read more stories like this on Story Nory!

That was really what it was.I loved it so much.

I want to know if you can do the Year of the RAT.It's pretty please?I hope you read it.The year of the rat is next year. Can you please tell a story about the rat in 2020?

The text was interesting and descriptive, I liked how the tiger believed, but the man tried him, it was great.

This is a great book. The book is great for all ages. The tiger wanted wisdom but never got it.He was burnt in flames.

I imagined how the story would look in front of me.The author used a different voice when they spoke.

This book is perfect for young children. The author used a great technique to show how the tiger got his strips. The book was written to show why tigers have strips. There is a wonderful take on a children's book in this book.

The text about how the tiger got its stripes was interesting, but the humans burned him.The age range for this story is between 5 and 10 because little kids will enjoy listening to the tiger and how the buffalo responds. When the tiger got burnt, I liked it.

I liked the story about the tiger. At least he got stripes when the tiger was burnt.

Thank you so much for sharing this story with me, it was very interesting and I learned about the Chinese belief of burning tigers to death, but it wasn't very far to the tiger they tried to burn him alive, did they actually burn the tigers back in the ancient year's

The story is great. It explains what the horoscopes believe.I believe this text was written to inform people about how tigers got their stripes.Students and children of this age would be able to give honest feedback to the story. The technique the author and reader used was very detailed. The story was told well and brought more attention to it and made it even more interesting. The intention of the writer was to inform people of what they heard.I think it was an amazing story and I feel bad for the tiger.

The author described the tiger in a way that made me think of what he would look like.I think the age range for text would be 9+.

It was an alright story about how the Tigers got their stripes, but it was a bit boring.I didn't like how the Tiger was burned. Why did they burn him alive?I think the tiger should have eaten the Evil Man because he was starving. If the Horrible man had not been hurt, the Tiger would have demolished him.

I didn't like how the tiger got burned alive, but it's a great story.I think the man was evil and the tiger would kill him.I think torture was not good, it should not be the tigers fault, but it was pretty boring at the same time.

I like it but I don't like how the farmer burned the tiger.

I liked the story, but not the ending. It was messed up to burn the tiger alive. The tigers are orange and black because of the fire and ropes.

Is there a meaningful life story that doesn't lie about where you are and what you have?

The tiger was burned in the story, but I didn't like that.People shouldn't hurt animals.

It was named after a person.

I don't like the fact that humans are so dishonest, he could have helped the tiger.

Although it might be sort, it is still a great story and I would like to read more of it, but a tip is to make it more interesting.

Ok, I'm not sure what you're talking about.

This is a very interesting story. It seems like a fake but it is a children's book.Good.

I am a girl 9 years old.I enjoy cats and wildlife.I hope you read this, but could you make a wildlife category?I would love it so much.If you ever read this, thank you!
