Candidates for public office are not allowed to try out for The Voice. If you are selected to participate in the competition, you will have to put off running for any office for at least 1 year after the final episode of that year's show is broadcast. If you want to run for office after competing, you should talk to the producers about the projected schedule so that you can plan accordingly.
Step 4: You have to submit a background check.
You may be asked to complete a background check if you want to compete on The Voice. You have to agree to the check.Make sure to submit required paperwork for the background check. The background check will likely need written permission from you.If you are selected as a contestant, you will need to participate in a physical and psychological evaluation.
Step 5: You should save money to cover your travel expenses.
If you have to pay for your own transportation and room and board, you will not be paid by The Voice. You can reserve hotel rooms in advance if you don't live in one of the auditioning cities.New York, NY, Miami, FL, Nashville, TN, and San Francisco, CA are some of the places where The Voice will be held in 2019.
Step 6: Complete and return paperwork on time.
If you are invited to be a participant, you will need to fill out a number of agreements. To be eligible to participate in the show, you must fill out all of the forms and submit them by the deadlines.A Participant Agreement and a Release and Arbitration Provision are required to be submitted. You may need a parent or guardian to complete some of the paperwork for you if you are a minor.
Step 7: If you are selected, be ready to meet the show's travel demands.
You may be asked to stay in Los Angeles, CA for up to 7 days during the final selection if you make it to the last rounds. If you are selected as a contestant, you should be prepared to travel to one or more locations and stay there for several weeks or months during the filming of the show. The producer of the show will pay for your travel and lodging if you are selected as a finalist or a competitor.
Step 8: You should work with the producer to make sure you meet the requirements.
Before you can compete on The Voice, the producer and the network involved in broadcasting the show will need to determine if it would be inappropriate for you to compete for any reason.Provide any details that they request, and make sure to answer any questions honestly. They may ask you if any of your family members have worked for NBC or any other networks or studios involved in the show over the past 2 years. You or a family member worked for someone who worked on The Voice.Advertising or sponsorship of the show has been done by you or a family member.
Step 9: An artist account can be created on the NBC website.
To register for The Voice, go to the website here: https://www.nbcthevoice.com/artistaccount/register.You can create an account if you don't already have one.Once you click the link, follow the instructions to set up your account.
Step 10: Pick your city and date.
Log in and look at the dates and places for the upcoming competition once your account is set up.Pick the city that is closest to you, then choose your date and time slot.New York, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco are the places to go for the competition in 2019.
Step 11: You can get your pass by printing it out.
You will receive a pass at the email address you provided when you created your account. You can log into your artist account and download the pass if you don't get the email.Bring your pass with you to the auditioning. You should bring a photo ID as well.If you don't have your ID and pass when you arrive at the location, you will not be able to try out.
Step 12: Arrive at the location during your time slot
If you have an assigned time slot, give yourself plenty of time to get to the location.Don't try to show up at a different location or time if you're auditioning at the selected time and place. It is not allowed for contestants to have friends, family, or vocal coaches with them. You can bring a parent or guardian with you if you are under 18.If you need special accommodations, contact the casting team.
Step 13: Prepare two acapella songs for the initial auditioning.
You will not be allowed to perform with any kind of musical accompaniment.Choose 2 songs that you are comfortable singing and that represent you well as an artist. You can choose songs from any genre and any artist. If the producer asks you to sing another song, you should be prepared to do so.If you don't get to sing your entire song, you're not going to be surprised. You have 30 seconds to show the producer what you have.
Step 14: It's a good idea to dress in a style that matches your artistic image.
The producer will be able to hear and see you during the open call.Pick an outfit that fits your personality and kind of image you want to convey as a performer, but also dress to impress. If you are going to be performing jazz standards, a slinky evening gown is appropriate.A more casual look is probably better for you.The producers won't be impressed if you dress up in a silly costume. The fact that you are serious about your art should be reflected in your outfit.
Step 15: It's important to sing clearly and confidently.
Have you had time to practice your songs? Before you start, take a few deep breaths.Don't try to imitate someone else when you sing and perform the song in your own style. The producers of The Voice want to hear your style, but also want you to sing songs that are familiar and relevant.Try to put your own spin on songs that are well-known.Imagine that you are singing to someone you feel comfortable with, and that they are standing at the back of the room as you sing.If you want to do it either way, practice singing all your songs with accompaniment.
Step 16: If you get a call, schedule a time to come back.
Stick around to see if you get a call back. You will be given a Red Card at the open call if you do.Speak to the crew to find out when and where you will be auditioning. The open call audition can take up to 3 days to complete.
Step 17: The songs should be prepared for the callback.
You need to be ready with 3 popular songs if you get a callback. You will need to play an instrument, have someone accompany you, and provide a track to sing with during the callback auditioning.Since callbacks take place very soon after the open call, prepare your songs in advance. The producer might want you to perform a song.Don't perform any original songs.Choose songs that have been popular in the past 5 years or so.
Step 18: You can film yourself performing.
Sending a video auditioning is a good alternative if you can't attend an open call. You can make a video of yourself performing two songs. You will need to use a pre- recorded track, have someone else accompany you, or accompany yourself on an instrument.Pick songs that you can perform well and that represent your skills as an artist.Set up your camera on a tripod and film yourself, or ask a friend to film you. When you finish editing the video, you will need to cut out any awkward pauses or moments when you are fiddling with the camera. If you don't feel comfortable doing it on your own, get the help of a friend.
Step 19: You can record a monologue that is no longer than 5 minutes.
You have to talk about yourself in the video as well as your songs. There isn't a set format for the "about me" portion of the auditioning, get creative and try to say something that will give the viewer an idea of who you are as a person and an artist. You could tell a short story about how you were inspired to start singing. It is okay if the total length of your video is longer than 5 minutes.
Step 20: Select "Video Submission Application" to set up an artist account.
You can register here if you don't already have an account. You can submit your application online by following the instructions on the video submission application page.
Step 21: If you prefer, you can send your video to us.
You can send a DVD in the mail if you prefer not to submit a video online. You can write your name, phone number, and artist account number on the DVD.A photo of yourself and a completed video auditioning application are required. The Voice Casting is located at 12400 Ventura Blvd #1240, Studio City, CA 91604.
