A lot of baking uses melted marshmallows.You can make a variety of baked goods from melted marshmallows.The easiest way to melt marshmallows is in the microwave.If you want to make icing out of marshmallows, you can microwave them or melt them.
Step 1: Get a bowl that's big enough for marshmallows.
Make sure your bowl is large enough to hold more marshmallows than you want to use.There are symbols on the underside of the bowl that tell you if it's safe to use in the microwave.The bowl is safe to use if there is a symbol of plain wavy lines.
Step 2: Put your marshmallows in your bowl.
Don't put marshmallows in the bowl.If you want to melt a lot of marshmallows, fill a few different bowls around a quarter of the way.
Step 3: The marshmallows need to be microwaved for 30 seconds.
Close the door and put your bowl in the microwave.The timer should be turned to 30 seconds when the microwave is set to high.Put the bowl in the microwave.The heat will be able to penetrate the marshmallows.
Step 4: Stir the marshmallows in the microwave.
To remove the bowl from the microwave, use a tea towel or oven glove.The marshmallows should be put in the bowl with a fork or spoon.Remove any marshmallows that are stuck to the side of the bowl.
Step 5: The bowl should be in the microwave for 30 seconds.
Place the bowl in the microwave again after you've properly stirred the marshmallows.When you turn the microwave on, make sure it's on high.Take 30 seconds to stir the marshmallows.
Step 6: Once the marshmallows are fully melted, microwave in 30-second increments.
You may need to repeat the process a few times to get the marshmallows you want.When you take the marshmallows out of the microwave, make sure you stir them properly.
Step 7: Put the marshmallows and water in a bowl.
For every 16 ounces of marshmallows you use, you should put in 30 liters of water.Check the underside of your bowl to make sure it's safe to use in a microwave.Look for a symbol with wavy lines.The bowl is safe to use.
Step 8: The marshmallows and water can be microwaved for 30 seconds.
Turn the dial to the high setting when you put your bowl into the microwave.When the microwave runs down, keep an eye on the marshmallows.Take the bowl out of the microwave when the time is up.If the bowl is too hot, you might need to wear oven gloves.
Step 9: A spoon coated in vegetable shortening is required to stir the mix.
Before you stir the mixture, dip your spoon into vegetable shortening.The shortening will make it easier to stir the marshmallows.The sides of the bowl have marshmallows stuck to them.
Step 10: Continue the process until the marshmallows are melted.
If you want marshmallows to be used as icing, you'll need to microwave them a few times.Before adding the bowl back to the microwave, keep stirring the mixture rigorously.When the mix is finished, it shouldn't be very liquid.It should be very soft.
Step 11: You can add any flavorings to the bowl.
You can add any flavor you want to your melted marshmallows.You can use food coloring.Use a spoon coated in vegetable shortening to stir the mixture after pouring a few drops of your chosen flavoring into the bowl.
Step 12: Put 65 grams of powdered sugar in the bowl and mix.
You can add powdered sugar to your melted marshmallows.The spoon coated in vegetable shortening should be used to mix the ingredients in the bowl.As the mix turns to dough, you might have to coat another spoon in vegetable shortening.
Step 13: The mix needs to be kneaded on a clean work surface.
The shortening will make it easier to work with the dough.Add some sugar to the dough.When the dough turns into a stiff ball, keep adding powdered sugar.
Step 14: The ball should be stored at room temperature.
Rub vegetable shortening on the ball before it is wrapped.You can use the ball as icing for your cake the next day.If you don't need it for a while, put the melted ball in the fridge.
