The Advanced Rider Course is an optional course that you can take to improve your riding skills and prepare you for the dangers of operating a motorcycle on increasingly populated roads.You must have earned your Illinois motorcycle license to take this course.If your insurance provider offers insurance discounts, completion may help you earn them.

Practical training is offered by the Basic Rider Course.You must be at least 16 years old to take the Basic Rider course.

If you are 18 years old or older, you can waive the written and driving test if you have completed the BRC.It could qualify you for discounted insurance.The driving exam must be taken by riders under 18 years old.Your card is valid for a year.

The BRC 2 helps riders become more comfortable on their own motorcycles.Most of the course is spent on driving skills.You must have written permission from the owner of the motorcycle you've borrowed to take the course.You must have a motorcycle endorsement on your license, a DOT approved helmet, and valid proof of vehicle registration and insurance.
