Team Fortress 2 is a game of fire.Pyros play an important role. The basic loadout of the Pyro is capable of causing more damage per second than any other in the game, next to the heavy.Their suit is fireproof and is thus impervious to fire damage. The Pyro can repel objects such as rockets, grenades and arrows, and blow people away with their flamethrower. To begin learning how to play as a Pyro, you must see Step 1 below.
Step 1: The Pyro has a basic loadout.
The primary weapon of the Pyros is a 200 fuel flame thrower, followed by a 6/32 medium ranged Shotgun, and a fire axe.
Step 2: The short-range use of the flamethrower is recommended.
Up close, the Pyro's flamethrower is the most dangerous. It is almost certain to be fatal at point-blank range. Before you use your flamethrower, make sure you are as close to your enemy as possible.
Step 3: Over time, use the flamethrower to deal with burning damage.
After the initial damage has been dealt, the flamethrower is the only base weapon that causes additional damage. The enemies who are hit with the flamethrower are set on fire and receive gradual damage over time.Even if an enemy runs away, he may still die, so it's not necessary to chase them down.
Step 4: The compression blast can be used to push and reflect projectiles.
The flamethrower has a secondary fire called the compression blast which can be used for a variety of purposes. The flamethrower emits a blast of air that can blast enemies backwards through the air, but it won't damage them.It can show slow moving projectiles such as the Soldier's rockets.Soldiers are vulnerable to their rockets being reflected back at their team, as reflected explosives mini-crit against their own team. The compression blast can remove flames from a teammate. The jarate and crossbow arrows can be seen as well. For a quick mini-crit kill, use reflected jarate. The air blast uses 20 bullets for every blast. The air blast uses the same weapons as your flamethrower, so use it with care.
Step 5: At long ranges, use the shotgun.
The shotgun is much longer-ranged than the flamethrower. You can use this to your advantage. If an enemy is moving towards you from a distance, it's a good idea to switch to your shotgun and start shooting to hurt him or her. When you are about to enter combat with another Pyro, the burning damage of your flamethrower is wiped out. It's smart to use your shotgun to pick off enemies that are out of range of your flamethrower.Try to finish the player off with a shotgun as he runs away."play-a-pyro-in-team-fortress-2-step-8.jpg" is a small URL.
Step 6: The axe can be used as a last resort.
It's fun to use the axe, but be careful. If you want to score a melee kill with the axe, it's better to use the flamethrower at melee ranges, as it almost always deals higher damage. There are more versatile uses for some of the unlockable axes.
Step 7: Take them by surprise.
It's very short-ranged, so you must use it carefully.Don't try to hit your opponents with your weapon. You'll be shot down before you can singe another player.Try to sneak up behind a group of enemies, get as close as you can, and then let your flamethrower rip!
Step 8: The enemy team's coordination is disrupted.
Fear is your middle name. You live to cause chaos in other players.A set of flames that continue to burn after you are out of the way is more intimidating to an enemy than an oncoming Heavy. The enemy team can't execute cohesive strategies if players scatter and run from you.
Step 9: You should reveal spies with your flamethrower.
The Spies fear you more than any other class. If you see a brief silhouette of a player flicker before you, immediately use your flamethrower to reveal any Spies near you.Even spies in disguises can be set on fire.
Step 10: Break the charges with the compression blast.
The only class that can break a charge is the Pyro. The medic can be separated from his companion using the flamethrower's compression blast. If you separate the two by a certain distance, the medic won't be able to share his bike with his friend and your teammates will have to finish both off. When the players don't see you coming, an Heavy will make short work of an oncoming Pyro.
Step 11: You can get the flare gun by completing 10 achievements.
The Flare Gun shoots flares that can set enemies on fire.It is difficult to hit anything that is moving because a flare shoots down when travelling through a long distance and flies slowly through the air. It's useful for hitting targets that are stationary or slow. Most enemies assume low threat towards the Pyro when he tries to hit them with a flare gun, as opposed to him using the Flamethrower.Against burning opponents, the flare gun has a 100% critical chance.Any class can be devastated by a critical flare.
Step 12: Use a flare gun to take out sentries.
The flare gun allows the Pyro, one of the shortest-ranged classes, to attack from long ranges. This allows a cautious, accurate Pyro to take out sentries that aren't accompanied by an engineer, which the Pyro would otherwise have no way of doing. The higher the level of sentries, the more hits they will take from the flare gun. It's a good idea to watch out for spies.Taking a sentry out with flares can take a long time, during which you'll be vulnerable to a back stab.
Step 13: The Backburner can be unlocked by completing 16 accomplishments.
When shooting someone in the back, the Backburner does a lot of damage. The tradeoff for this is a huge increase in the cost of your air compression blast, so you may want to use it more frugally. This weapon encourages a stealthy style of play because you want to attack your enemies from behind.
Step 14: The Axtinguisher can be unlocked by completing 22 achievements.
If the enemy is on fire, the Axtinguisher does half the damage of the regular axe but has a 100% critical hit chance. If you manage to approach a firing Heavy from behind without him seeing you, you can give him a quick puff from the Flamethrower, whip out your Axtinguisher, and hack into him.The normal ax would take a long time, but this should kill him in about two swings.
Step 15: If you want to switch back to your original equipment at any time, you should access the TF2 menu.
Hit Escape. The "m" key will take you to the "loadout" screen, where you can change your weapon options.
