It's an excellent choice for cookware, kitchen appliances, sinks, fixture, and other items around the house and workplace. The material is durable, has an attractive modern look, and is great for resisting stains.Even though it's bullet-proof, it can get scratched.Minor scratches can be fixed on your own, unlike nicks, dents, and deep grooves, which will need part replacements or help from a professional.
Step 1: The direction of the grain must be determined.
The rubbing in the same direction as the grain is the most important part of repairs.Look closely at the steel and see which direction the surface is moving in.The grain is here.It can make the scratches worse if you work against the grain. It is important to know the direction of the grain before you start. The grain can be horizontal or vertical.
Step 2: A non-abrasive compound or cleaner is the choice.
There are a few compounds and cleaners that can be used to clean the surface of the steel.Bar Keeper's Friend Perfect-It Rubbing Compound is a product you can try.
Step 3: Put powdered compounds with water.
You have to make a paste from powdered compounds and cleaners before you can apply them to the steel. The powder should be mixed with a few drops of water.Add more water until you have a smooth paste. The consistency of toothpaste is what you're looking for.
Step 4: Rub the compound on the scratch.
A few drops of cleaner can be put on a microfiber cloth. The paste can be spooned onto a cloth.Rub the compound gently into the scratch, working in the same direction as the metal. The compound isn't abrasive, so you can rub it over the scratch.Continue rubbing until the scratch has been removed.
Step 5: Take off excess compound.
The microfiber cloth should be soaked with water. The cloth is barely damp.To shine the surface of the steel, wipe it with the cloth to remove excess compound.
Step 6: Look at the surface.
To remove leftover dampness, wipe the surface with a microfiber cloth.Examine the surface of the steel to see if the treatment worked. If the scratch improves but is still visible, repeat the buffing process. If the scratch is still visible, you may have to take more drastic steps, such as sanding the entire surface.
Step 7: A sanding product can be used.
Light and fine scratches will not require as much work as slightly deeper scratches. There are three basic sanding products you can choose from.
Step 8: The product was wet.
A polishing compound is included in scratch removal kits. The coarsest pad is where you should apply a few drops of this. The 400-grit sandpaper can be soaked in a bowl of water for a few minutes. If you want to apply water to the surface of the pad, use a spray bottle filled with water. The compound helps the sanding product move over the surface of the metal.
Step 9: Rub the surface with a piece of paper.
Rub the product over the surface of the steel in a single direction.Apply gentle pressure to the cloth.Use long strokes. It is important to work in a single direction because rubbing back and forth over the surface can cause small scratches on the metal.Wrap the pad or sandpaper around the block to make sure you're applying even pressure. If you look closely at the metal, you can see if the surface is running vertically or horizontally. The metal has a grain.
Step 10: You should sand the entire surface.
Rub the entire surface of the steel. The section that is sanded will look different from the rest of the metal. You have to sand it all during the re-surfacing process.Continue until the scratch has been sanded down and is mostly gone. This could take 15 minutes or more depending on the size of the area.
Step 11: The sanding process can be repeated with the paper.
When you're done with the coarser pad, switch to the fine one.Apply polishing compound, soak the 600-grit sandpaper, or apply water to the gray scouring pad.Sand the entire surface with long strokes and gentle pressure.Continue until the scratch is gone.
Step 12: Dust can be removed with a wipe on the surface.
If you just sanded the surface, wipe it down with a microfiber cloth. This will remove metal dust and leftover compound.Rub and buff in the direction of the grain even when you're cleaning.Make sure you clean and rub in the same direction if you look closely at the metal.
Step 13: The entire surface should be cleaned with a solution of water and vinegar.
Transfer some water to a spray bottle. The metal can be sprayed with several sprays of vinegar. To clean the metal, use a microfiber cloth. The surface of the metal will be cleaned with the help of vinegar.Don't use bleach, oven cleaner, or abrasive pads when cleaning.
Step 14: The steel is Polish.
When the steel is clean and dry, apply a few drops of oil to a microfiber cloth.Mineral oil, vegetable oil or even olive oil can be used.Rub the cloth against the steel to polish it.As needed, add more oil.Rub the surface until it is polished.
