There is a torch in the game.

It is important to have lighting in the game.Light helps you find your way home, prevents monsters from appearing inside your structures, and makes exploring underground much easier. It's possible to prevent deaths from falling by making them visible at night.

Step 1: Cut wood into sticks.

You can break down trees to make wood. You will need to drag wood to the crafting area in your inventory to turn these into other materials. To complete the recipe, click the Planks in the results box. There is a second plank in the crafting area. The results box has the Sticks in it.The computer edition is described in the crafting instructions in this article.Select the name of the recipe from the crafting menu on consoles or Pocket Edition.

Step 2: A crafting table is necessary.

If you don't have a crafting table yet, put four plank in the crafting area to make one.If you want to use it for the next steps, place it on the ground. The crafting table is accessible on Pocket Edition.Stand near the table and open the crafting menu.

Step 3: There is a wooden pickaxe.

Make a pickaxe if you don't have one. There is a stick in the center of the crafting table's 3 x 3 grid.Place a second stick below it.The top row should have three planks.

Step 4: It is possible to mine coal.

Coal has black flecks in it.It is easy to find in cliff faces, shallow caves, and anywhere large amounts of stone are exposed.Break your pickaxe to get coal.If you can't find coal, use the charcoal method.

Step 5: Use sticks and coal to make torches.

Place coal above a stick in the crafting area to make torches.Make as many of them as you can.

Step 6: A furnace is needed.

You can make torches if you can't find coal.Make a furnace out of cobblestone. The cobblestone should be placed in a crafting table's crafting area. The furnace should be placed on the ground.

Step 7: Wood should be placed in the top slot of the furnace.

The interface can be opened with the furnace.Above the outline of flames, place wood in the top slot.Once you start the furnace, the wood will burn into charcoal.

Step 8: The lower slot of the furnace has planks in it.

The fuel slot is located in the lower part of the furnace. The furnace will start when you put something in here.Put a few plank in this slot because they are more efficient at burning than wood.

Step 9: Wait for the charcoal to be formed.

The charcoal will be left on the right after the furnace burns through the wood. You should put this charcoal in your inventory.

Step 10: The torches were made from sticks and charcoal.

You can make torches by putting charcoal above a stick.Four torches are made from each pair of ingredients.

Step 11: There are torches on the walls.

Click the ground or wall if you want to move the torch to your quick slot.A torch can burn on any surface. If you break the block attached to the torch, you can pick it up again.

Step 12: Light areas to stop mob spawning.

Most mobs can't be seen in brightly lit areas, but they can wander into torch-lit areas. In a one block wide tunnel, place torches at eye level every 11th block.Every 8th block, place torches at eye level in a two block wide tunnel.Every 12th block, place torches in a row on the ground. At the end, walk back along the row 6 blocks, then walk left or right to start another row.Continue until you cover the floor.

Step 13: You can use torches to guide you back.

Place torches in caves to find your way back.As you go further in the caves, keep these on your right. If the torches are on your left, you know you're heading back to the surface.

Step 14: You can make landmarks.

Even though torches aren't all that bright, they are still visible. If you want to cover the top of the tower with torches, build a tall tower of dirt or other materials. If you ever lose track of your base or other important location, you can use this as a landmark.

Step 15: Redstone torches are used for redstone circuits.

Red torches aren't enough to stop mobs from spawning.Redstone torches create a spooky atmosphere, so you could use them to build a haunted house.

Step 16: Look for redstone.

This can be found when mining deep underground. You need an iron pickaxe to mine redstone.

Step 17: The redstone should be on the stick in the crafting grid.

The recipe is the same as a normal torch, but with redstone instead of coal. You can light redstone torches.
