You can learn how to make a ringtone from a song on a PC or Mac.
Step 1: If you don't already have it, open it.
The music note icon is at the bottom of the screen if you are using a Mac.The Start menu is where you will usually find it if you are using Windows.You can download a ringtone from the iTunes Store.
Step 2: You can click on the library.
It is near the top part of the store.You can see the contents of your library.To use a part of a song as a ringtone, you have to have it in your library.
Step 3: Pick a song.
Pick a song that has a 20 second segment of sound you want to hear when your phone rings.
Step 4: Take the start and stop times of the segment and write them down.
When you play the song, write down the exact time you want the ringtone to start, and then write it down where it should end.Write down the start time for the part of the song you want to use.If you want the ringtone to stop at 1 minute and 10 seconds into the song, you have to write it down.The tone will repeat until the call is answered, canceled, or routed to voicemail if the segment is less than 20 seconds.
Step 5: Click on the song you want to listen to.
There will be a menu.
Step 6: Click on the song to get more information.
There is a window that contains information about the file.
Step 7: You can click on the Options tab.
It is at the top of the window.
Step 8: You can enter the start and stop times.
You can type the start and stop times you wrote down by checking the boxes next to them.
Step 9: Click OK.
It is at the bottom of the window.When you set times, listen to the track to make sure it sounds the way you want it to.Before moving forward, make any changes to these times.
Step 10: Click the song to highlight it.
The song is ready for conversion.
Step 11: Click the menu to open it.
It is at the top of the screen on a Mac or a PC.
Step 12: You can click to convert.
It is at the bottom of the menu.A new menu will be added.
Step 13: Click to create the version.
The file is created from the start and stop points of the song.Underneath the original file, you should see the new version of the song.If you don't see both versions of the song, it might be because you're watching a video.The title or artist of the song can be found in the search bar.
Step 14: The start and stop times are in the original file.
You can listen to the whole song in the future if you reset the start and stop times of the original file.Click the original song to select it.The check marks should be removed from start and stop.
Step 15: Click on the file to open it.
This is a shortened version of the song.A menu will be expanded.
Step 16: You can show in Windows Explorer or Finder.
You should call this window SongName.m4a if you have a new ringtone file.If you don't see the ".m4a" at the end of the file name, you can check the box next to "File name extensions" in the Explorer window.
Step 17: The file should be changed to.m4r.
Click the file to select it.Remove.m4a from the end of the file and replace it with a different one.Press Enter or Return.To confirm, click either PC or Mac.
Step 18: The renamed file should be on your desktop.
Click and drag the file from the Explorer or Finder window to the desktop, then release the mouse button to complete the move.
Step 19: Click on the shortened ringtone to return to iTunes.
You right-clicked it earlier.A menu will be expanded.
Step 20: Click the button to remove from the library.
Follow the on-screen instructions if prompted to confirm.
Step 21: You need to connect your phone to the computer.
You can use the cable that came with your phone.You should see a button near the top- left corner of iTunes after a few moments.
Step 22: The button is on the phone.
This expands the section called "On My Device" near the bottom of the left panel.
Step 23: Click on Tones.
There is a list of your custom ringtones in the right panel.
Step 24: You can drag the file from your desktop.
You can put it on the right panel.The name of the file will be added to the Tones.
Step 25: You can click to sync.
There is a gray button at the bottom.
Step 26: Click on Done.
You can remove your phone from the computer by going to the right.
Step 27: Open the settings on your phone.
The app is usually found on the home screen.
Step 28: Click Sounds to scroll down.
There is a pink icon with a speaker on it.
Step 29: There is a Ringtone that you can tap.
It is under theOUNDS AND VIBRATION PATTERNS.The one you just added should be at the top of the list.
Step 30: To select a ringtone, tap it.
Your default ringtone is set by this.
