It's important that you have a good environment and food for the tree frog to be happy and healthy. Many tree frog species are kept as pets. The white's and green tree frog are the most common. It takes time and effort to care for a tree frog.
Step 1: A tank is required for your tree frog.
The tree frog needs a tank of at least 10 gallons.Make sure that your tree frog has enough room to be healthy and happy by getting a large tank.If you can, use a tall tank because tree Frogs are used to living in vertical spaces. The tree frog tanks should be waterproof.Plastic can be sufficient if the material won't break down under UV light.Make sure you have a fiberglass enclosure for your tank.
Step 2: Prepare a tree friendly environment.
A big empty space is not enough for a tree frog to thrive. If you want your tree frog to have a healthy living environment, you need to make it similar to the one the frog is used to.There is a safe and easy floor for your tree frog if you lay down an Artificial Substrate along the bottom of your tank. Some tree frog species can have serious health problems if they eat pieces of pebbles and gravel. The foliage, rocks, and branches should be placed in the tank. Both real and fake foliage and branches can be used.It will be easier to maintain fake foliage. You want your tree frog to be able to climb at different heights in the tank.
Step 3: Attach an aquarium heater to the tank.
Alternatively, mount a heat lamp of no more than 15 Watts above the tank.In either case, keep the temperature inside the tank at a minimum of 18 C.The temperature range for your frog is 24-26 C.There is a large rock near the heater that will give your tree frog a place to bask in the heat. The temperature can be monitored using two thermometers, one near the bottom of the tank and the other at the top.
Step 4: It's a good idea to make a wet and humid environment for your tree frog.
A hydrometer can be used to measure humidity. The Humidity should be between 50-60%.It's a good idea to give your tree frog a small pond or water dish. You can get de-chlorination drops at the pet store. It is possible to keep the humid tank by including a source of running water. There are water features that can be purchased as a pet store. The tree frog can be harmed by soaking in chlorinated water. You will need to change the water frequently, so make sure the container is easy to reach.Make sure you have water at all times.
Step 5: Light the tank.
Some research says that a lack of UV light can cause problems for a tree frog.Purchase a UV lamp to mount above the tank. The UV light is on for 4-5 hours a day.Purchase an Ultraviolet-B emitting bulb to make sure you are using the correct lamp type.Maintaining a 12-hour day/night cycle will benefit your frog.If you have an automatic timer, you don't have to remember to turn the light on and off in a certain amount of time.Florescent lighting can provide light without affecting the amount of heat in the tank, which can help you regulate the temperature inside. There are kits for mounting lights above your tank at the pet store.
Step 6: The water needs to be replaced daily with clean, de-chlorinated water.
When using a small water dish, it is a good idea to change the water frequently because it poses a health risk to your frog.If you use bottled water, it will save you a step because it is already de-chlorinated.When you take the dirty water out of the tank, make sure you have clean water. You don't want your frog to be thirsty.De-chlorination drops should be used on the water if you forget to do so.
Step 7: It's a good idea to wash the tank.
It is important to keep the tank clean in order to have a healthy habitat for the tree frog. The inside of the tank, any accessories or décor, water bowls, small ponds and branches, etc.All should be cleaned. The tank and accessories need to be cleaned.Make sure to thoroughly rinse everything after using a small brush to clean smaller items. After washing, reassemble the tank.Make sure your frog has a place to live when you wash the tank.A small, enclosed dish or bowl with a small amount of clean water does not make for a healthy long-term environment. When your frog is clean, make sure to put it back in its tank.Frog tanks need to be washed frequently. The tank needs to be cleaned as soon as it looks dirty.
Step 8: You can monitor your tank's humidity and heat with a hygrometer.
The tree frog needs warm, humid environments. The heat and humidity should not be a problem if you have set up your tank correctly.Ensuring that the environment is suitable for your tree frog at all times is important. At all times, the tank should be at least 18 C.The ideal humidity level is between 50% and 60%.De-chlorinated water can be used to mist your tree frog.
Step 9: Feed your tree frog.
Crickets are the main source of food for tree frog.Depending on your frog's age, it will have different food requirements. If you are unsure about your frog's diet or eating habits, don't be afraid to consult with a vet.Feed your tree frog crickets.Young Frogs will eat crickets all the time. It's important that a food source is available to them. The young adult frog can be fed larger crickets. The adult frog can be fed a few times a week. Most pet stores have food supplies. You can try to raise your own crickets.Feed variety to your frog's diet by giving them worms, moths, or flies.
Step 10: Take care of your tree frog.
If you keep the tank clean and the tree frog properly fed, they should stay healthy, but if they start acting strange, change their eating habits, or look bad, be sure to get them help.Dirty or chlorinated water is a common problem. It is important to keep your tree frog's water clean.Dirty tanks can allow harmfulbacteria to breed in the tanks and can be harmful to your tree frog.Weight loss due to a change in eating habits, swelling, and difficulty breathing are some of the symptoms to look out for.
Step 11: You should treat your frog like a frog.
Frogs don't like being cuddled like dogs, cats, or hamsters.Take into account what your tree frog wants.Only handle the tree frog occasionally. The tree frog is wet when nervous or stressed. It is a good sign to put it back in the tank if they do this while you are holding them.
