Step 1: Start by tying a ribbon or string.
No matter what type of ribbon you use or what purpose you are using it, the basic bow tying technique is the same.You just need a ribbon with a left and a right end.If you're tying a bow on the top of a package, you should loop the ribbon under the package and knot the ends together.You now have two sides to work with.A piece of ribbon can be used to tie a bow.The left and right sides are equal in length if you tie a knot in the center of the ribbon.
Step 2: You can make a loop with the left side of the ribbon.
To hold it in place, pinch the loop between your thumb and forefinger.If you're tying a ribbon, make sure it isn't twisted, the loop should be smooth.
Step 3: A second loop is made.
The right side of the ribbon should be under the left loop.When you have a second loop of the same size, pull it through.When you tie your shoes, use the same technique.
Step 4: The bow should be tightened.
To tighten the knot, pull on the loops.Make sure the loops are the same size and length.The bow is done.
Step 5: Start with a piece of ribbon.
A piece of ribbon is needed for this bow.Don'tknot it and leave it straight.
Step 6: A loop can be made near the left end of the bow.
Make a loop by starting from the end of the bow.Use your thumb and forefinger to hold it in place.
Step 7: To create a second loop, loop the right end over the first loop.
The ribbon should have a tail at either end.The loops should be held with one hand.
Step 8: Continue looping the ribbon.
If you want a pile of loops with two ends of equal length sticking out from either side, loop the remaining length of ribbon accordion style.
Step 9: Cut the center.
If you want to divide the loops in two, use a piece of florist wire or a thin string.There is a pile of loops on the right side of the cinch.
Step 10: The loops need to be fluffed.
The cinched center is no longer visible if the loops are separated and fluffed.For a professional touch, use scissors to clip the ends into inverted "v" shapes.
Step 11: Attach a piece of ribbon to your hand.
Wrap the ribbon with your thumb and hold the end against your palm.The loops should be placed on top of each other.
Step 12: Take the ribbon loops out of your hand and fold them in half.
Don't let the loops come undone when you slip them off.
Step 13: The cinch should be cut.
The center folded part should be facing up if you hold the folded loop in one hand.To cut the corner off of the folded middle, use scissors.You have to cut through all of the ribbon layers.To make sure the cut is even, use a firm cut of the scissors.The two corners should not be close to the center of the ribbon.
Step 14: The cinch can be tied with a second ribbon.
Tie a knot in the middle of the loops by fitting the second ribbon between them.A small string or florist wire can be used.
Step 15: Take out the loops.
The loops should be separated from the inside to the outside.Pull the loops from the center.The loops should be arranged so that they form a circular pattern.The bow is done.
