Twins who are conjoined are getting married. Are they married in 2021.
The conjoined twins are American. They are dicephalic parapagus twins and are very symmetrical for conjoined twins, giving the appearance of having a single body. Each has its own heart, stomach, spine, pair of lungs, and spinal cord.
The twins control one arm and one leg.Learning to crawl, walk, and clap requires cooperation as an infant. They can eat and write at the same time.Running, swimming, hair brushing and driving a car require coordination.
The progress of the twins has been covered in popular media. In December of 2006 they were interviewed on The Learning Channel. They starred in their own reality series.[2][3]
The twins were born to a registered nurse and a carpenter. They have two children, a younger brother and sister. They were raised in New Germany, Minnesota, attended a high school in Mayer, and graduated from a university in St. Paul.
The twins have a chest that is larger than average with two arms and two legs.At birth, they had a rudimentary arm between the bases of their necks attached to a shoulder blade at the back. The shoulder blade was removed.
Brittany's tilt causes her to appear shorter even when seated, as her head tilts outward about 15 degrees to the left.Brittany's calf muscle is larger than that of her opponent because she tends to stand and walk on tip-toe.After Brittany stopped growing, the growth of her spine was stopped. They had surgery at age 12 to correct their spine and to expand their chest to prevent breathing difficulties in the future.[5]
One side of the conjoined body is managed by each twin. There is a small amount of overlap at the midline because the sense of touch is restricted to her body half. The twin on the opposite side feels the stomach ache.[5]
They use their limbs for both hands and legs. They are able to walk, run, swim, and ride a bicycle if they coordinate their efforts. They can type on a keyboard and drive a car together. At 5 ft 2 in 1.57 m and 4 ft 10 in (1.47 m) respectively, Brittany is taller and longer of leg than Abby, which led to difficulty balancing a Segway as shown in their 2012 reality series.[5]
The spine is the only part of the body that the twins do not share.
After hearing from doctors that it was unlikely that the twins would survive the operation, the parents decided not to attempt separation. The quality of life for the surviving twin or twins living separately would be less than that of conjoined people, as the twins grew and learned to walk and develop other skills, their parents confirmed their decision against separation.[7]
Both of the twins passed their driver's license exams. They had to take the test twice, once for each twin. The devices are on the right of the driver's seat, while the left is occupied by Brittany. They control the steering wheel.
They both graduated from high school. At the beginning of college, they were majoring in education. They considered pursuing different concentrations, but the amount of extra work was too much. They graduated with Bachelor of Arts degrees.[8]
In order to emphasize their individuality, some of the twins' clothes are altered by a seamstress so that they have two separate necklines.Sometimes they share a single meal for convenience. For tasks such as responding to email, they type and respond as one, anticipating each other's feelings with little verbal communication between them.Their choice is to use "I" when they agree, but use their names when their responses differ.
They don't like being stared at or photographed by strangers. They told the Discovery Channel in 2006 that they wanted to date, get married, and have children. They hoped that by providing some information about themselves, they would be able to lead normal social lives. It was 9 and 10.
