If you own a water cooler/dispenser, you want to keep it clean. The cooler should be cleaned every six weeks or every change of bottle, whichever comes first, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. The most important part of maintaining your cooler is keeping the water clean. It takes some time, water, and either bleach or vinegar to wash your dispensers.
Step 1: Take one gallon of water and put it in a bucket.
This step is the same whether you're using a bleach or a solution.A bucket with a handle is easy to manage. It's best if the bleach solution doesn't spill out of the container or onto the floor.
Step 2: The bleach solution should be made.
You can add bleach to every gallon of water. It will be easier to flush the smell out towards the end if you use an unscented bleach.Carefully mix the solution. If disposable gloves are available, use them. It's important to do this in a space that you can afford to spill some in.
Step 3: Make a solution out of it.
You don't need much for the mixture.Adding a small amount of lemon juice will make the scent of the vinegar less overpowering. For every three parts water, mix in one part white vinegar. If you use a gallon of water, 1/3 of it should be white vinegar. The lemon juice should be added after mixing the water and vinegar. If you want to use chlorine bleach to destroy anything, it's only about 90 percent effective. It's possible for the amount ofbacteria in bottled water to grow over time if not properly sanitized.
Step 4: Remove the bottle from the water cooler.
Make sure you don't have any other electronics plugged into the same outlet or near the area where you want to clean your water cooler. There is no chance of water meeting live electricity.
Step 5: The water cooler's inner surface needs to be cleaned with a sponge.
If there are two, drain the solution through the tap and put it in a separate container.Put this container in a sink or toilet.
Step 6: Get rid of the last cleaning solution.
The water should be poured out through the cooler temperature tap and into a bucket.Make sure the taste of bleach or vinegar is not left behind.
Step 7: Lift off the tray.
After washing the tray and screen, rinse them in clean tap water and return them to the dispensers. It's important to dry thoroughly so as not to leave any dry spots.
Step 8: You can wash your hands and dry the bottle with a towel.
You should wash your hands before handling the bottle again.
Step 9: Place the new bottle after removing the cap.
Ensure a snug fit, and watch for air bubbles to rise to the top of the bottle, indicating a seal has been made.
Step 10: Make sure that it works.
If your dispenser has two faucets, try one of them.Make sure the water doesn't have an unpleasant taste.
