Is it possible to preserve food without using plastic wrap?It is possible to keep most foods fresh by covering them in fabric wraps. After you use one of the wraps, some food might get stuck on the surface, so it is important to clean it every time.We know you have some questions, so we will walk you through the best ways to keep your wraps fresh.
Step 1: It's a good idea to rinse the surface of the wrap.
A simple rinse might be enough to clean your wraps if they don't have a lot of food on them.Take your wraps and run them under the water to get rid of crumbs. If the wraps are allowed to soak in the water for too long, they may lose their coating. If you put your wraps in the dishwasher, it could remove the wax.
Step 2: You can apply a drop of alcohol-free dish soap to your wrap.
If your wraps are more dirty, put them in the sink with a little cold water.Put a drop or two of your dish soap on the wrap and lather it with your hands.Since they will scrub the wax out of the fabric and make your wraps useless, avoid harsh grease-fighting soaps and other detergents.
Step 3: If you don't want to scrub it off with a sponge, use a washcloth.
If there are still crumbs or stains on your wax wrap, you may need to use more elbow grease to clean them. After washing your dishes, use a non-abrasive sponge or cloth on the dirty areas. To clean the surface layer of wax, only apply a small amount of pressure.Don't use scrub brushes or abrasive pads when washing your wraps since they're too aggressive.
Step 4: Hang the wrap to dry or dry it with a towel.
Shake off any excess water in your sink.If you need to use your wrap immediately, pat it with a soft dish towel. You can hang your wax wrap on a dry line.Set your wraps on top of a dish rack if you don't have a line to hang them.Don't wring out your wax wrap.Water won't absorb into the fabric since there's an outer coating of wax.
Step 5: You should store your wax wraps in a dry area.
If you fold your wax wraps, they will be easier to store.Place your wax wraps in a kitchen cabinet or drawer.Your wraps will still work well the next time you use them, if the wax doesn't melt. The heat from the sun could cause the wax to melt out of the fabric.
Step 6: Before you use the wraps on your hand, make sure to crunch them.
It won't work well for preserving your food if the wax sticks to itself immediately after you wash it.When your wraps are dry, crumple them into a ball in your hand.To warm up the wax, hold it for a few seconds.Wrap it back into its original shape.
Step 7: When the wax is cracked or creased, refresh your wraps.
After you wash and use one of your wraps, make sure the wax is smooth and even over the surface. If your wrap doesn't stick to itself, you may need to refresh it to make it work again. You can use wax wraps for a while before you need to refresh them.
Step 8: If you want to add more wax, wash the wrap.
Start with a clean surface because you don't want to trap food underneath the wax.You can wash the wrap with cold water and dish soap.Let it air-dry before putting on more wax.
Step 9: The wrap needs to be put in an electric oven for about 2 minutes.
Put the middle rack in the oven.Wrap your wrap around the tray with baking paper.Wrap your fabric in a tray and place it in the oven for 2 minutes to melt the wax and distribute it evenly.Take the wrap out of the oven and put it away. The wax on your wraps is not safe to put in a gas oven or anywhere with an open flame. If the wax is too thin, sprinkle more on your wrap.It will cover the areas where the wax is missing.
Step 10: If you don't want to use the oven, iron on freshly grate beeswax.
Put your wrap on top of the baking paper on the ironing board.Rub a piece of hardened beeswax on a cheese grater.Just make sure you evenly distribute it on the wrap, you only need a little bit of wax.Place another piece of baking paper over the wrap.Rub the iron on the baking paper until all the wax is melted onto the fabric.Allow the wrap to cool completely before you use it.You can burn the wax if you leave the iron in one place for a long time.
Step 11: Get rid of your wraps if you reuse them for a year.
They will work as good as new after you refresh them.It takes 6 months to 1 year for the wraps to lose their stickiness. You can either throw the wraps away or use them as regular cleaning rags in the kitchen.
