What are the brown spots on green seedless grapes?
They are on grapes. Is it bruses or something else?Is there anything I should keep an eye out for?
The brown spots on the grapes are just like the decaying process of any fruit - it doesn't last long.As long as they're just dots, grapes should be purchased free from any spots and eaten quickly. The spots can show up if they're left out.
Again, they're not unsafe to eat at this point, but once they show up, you better grab them quickly!
I apologize to Spunk Nutley.I hit the wrong thumb. That was the correct answer.I wanted to let you know that grapes freeze well.
Try to eat them soon after you buy them, as explained by Spunk. You can freeze them if you can't get to them right away.Until they are frozen, keep the plastic bag flat with the grapes in a single layer.A sheet pan can be used for this part of the process. If you pack the grapes into a smaller container, you won't have to worry about the whole pile sticking together.Enjoy!
I would wait until you could find some without the spots.I think it could be a dried leaf.Is it possible to remove it with your finger, or is it a part of the grape? It is something the grape got next to, probably when it was washed and wet, and it stuck to it.It could be considered a brownish color if the grapes get bruised.I would wait to find grapes that didn't have so many of these that they would be noticeable, if it felt squishy instead of firm.
