A mattress that is 80 inches long and 10 inches thick requires a blanket of more than 90 inches. You need another 6 inches to tuck it in at the foot of the bed.The thought that goes into making a 90 inch long blanket to put on a queen size bed is hard to imagine.
A typical Queen size mattress is 78 inches from top to bottom. You can tuck the blanket at the bottom of the bed if you lay it 6 inches below the mattress. The Queen mattress is about 60 inches across, so a Queen blanket that is 90′′x90′′ gives you 15 inches on each side of the mattress to tuck. Some of the blankets are longer than 90 inches. The Cotone Cable Blanket is 96 inches long, while the Kingston is 100 inches. If you need more help with blanket sizes, we are happy to help. You just have to call.
I would like David to say the same thing.I bought a 9090 blanket, but I can't fit it at the foot of the bed.I need to buy another blanket and I appreciate your numbers for queen blankets based on the thickness. The blanket is usually placed from the top of the bed, because we like it that way.I like the blanket tucked in and am not an inkeeper.

I think a blanket is meant to protect the mattress from wear and tear that makes the edges threadbare. If that is the case, the blanket should be tucked on top of the head and on the sides. The excess on all sides was needed for this purpose. Please, my take.
Thank you for your comment, Akinkugbe. If you want to protect your mattress from bed bugs, I would recommend a mattress encasement. If the mattress becomes stained, the warranty on it becomes void.Blankets are not really able to do that.
