What causes red lines on TV?
There is a narrow red line on my TV.Is it a good idea to take it to a repair shop? What's the best $ 1000 TV these days?50"-60".
You should buy a new TV if it's not an easy fix.Even a mid-range 2012 model will have more features, lower power consumption, better blacks, and better picture quality than the one you paid for, even if it was great when you got it.
It was fair enough. The cost to repair was not worth it.Is it a good idea to only look at plasma at my price range?
Depending on your priorities, LCDs are competitive. The Ars consensus is that plasmas offer better colors and darker blacks. That may be true, but I find most screens to be very good. You should be able to see the screen yourself before buying it.Don't look off in person, there are still quite a few that have good paper specifications.
After you get a new set, you may want to try a repair. You could get lucky and swap out one board and get it working again, depending on how expensive each board is.
Pont said to make sure you see the screen yourself before buying it.If you're going to go to a proper home theater shop that calibrates all of its TVs and provides a decent viewing environment, you should look off in person. No TV should be judged by how it looks in the store, it's the worst possible setup and viewing environment.
It is cheap and nice. It's been a year and a half since I got a 60" screen.
