The Cold-Shot pipe freezing tool freezes liquids in metal and plastic pipes ranging from 1/8″ through 2″ (10mm to 60mm) using carbon dioxide (CO2). Dip tube-type CO2 cylinders are available from any welding supply house. The Cold-Shot works faster than “refrigerator-type” units, is more compact and less expensive.
How does a pipe freezing kit work?
Just place the freeze head around the pipe, attach the hose and open the cylinder valve. Liquid carbon dioxide then flows into the tool's freeze heads and forms dry ice at a temperature of -110 F. That's cold enough to form an ice pack that withstands 7,000 psi – yet it won't damage lines.Jul 18, 2017
