The RTX 2060 can only “future proof” you for a short period if you consider its raw performance against the latest games. A better choice at more or less the same price point is the Radeon 5700XT which costs around as much as the RTX 2060, but is as powerful, if not better than the RTX 2070 Super.
How long will an RTX 2060 laptop last?
You won't be able to crank up the latest and most demanding games to ultra, but they will run quite all right at medium. That's a 4 year old laptop card. In comparison, the RTX 2060 mobile is about as powerful as the desktop GTX 1070. It'll be fine for at least 4 more years, possibly more.
